2-1 win, with more of a makeshift 11....good result

The early goal for Guiseley has actually done us a favour, good practice to play a team sitting in given how alot of our games against the weaker sides played out last season.

Agreed. I almost commented on that last night. The worst co-commentator I have ever heard.

Notes
Costa and Klich looked top class, Shackleton much better game than Clarke for me who still seems to lack confidence. Kenneh looks a prospect and Miazek must have passed BPF as our number 2. Alio could struggle to make the first 11...actually make that should struggle.

Didn't mind Ben commentating, he's learning his trade. I've heard a lot worse

PSG apparently sniffing around Kenneh...hails from the country that gave us Georgie Weah

He shouldn't to be fair but MB likes his continuity..He can cover both wings and left back off the bench this season for me thoughYorkshireSquare wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2019 8:40 pm Doesnt get a look in with Harrison, Costa and Douglas playing as they have in these friendlies does he?

Fulĺ Time Thoughts:
Worked hard against very determined and energetic opposition. Took a long time to get up to speed but there were already flashes of inspiration and expression we didn't really see last season when the going got tough.
Pros:
Costa looked every bit a 15mil player. Don't remember him losing the ball at all. Fairly that is. That goal was exactly what we were missing last season and I've no doubt he'd have scored it against any team in the Championship.
White was flawless, simply that. Seemed to read attackers minds, knew when to put in a tackle, when to block and he had Guiseley crapping themselves every time he strode out. Between him and the excellent Kenneh I don't think we'll miss Pontus in the slightest.
We might have robbed Spurs.
Cons:
Alioski getting a bit shown up now we're getting in players with end product.
BPF equally shown up by his sub there. Miazek was superb. Confident, commanding and some brilliant saves to boot.
Never ever ever play Kalvin at CB again.
Overall:
Yes it's only Guiseley but they'd have given a lot of teams a challenge the way they were playing. Still, Costa looks like just that bit of magic that could've sent us up last season. Bogusz deserves a mention of course, great attacking instincts for the second goal and just did a solid job all evening. Well played lads.

So two good games then.
Now the big test, both of tactics and our players.

Apart from you & I no one has mentioned White's performance. Kenneh was also impressive. Shackleton looks a better player than Clarkemothbanquet wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2019 8:46 pm

Come on Marcelo
Phillips should not be one of your two main CB's although he improved as the game progressed

I’ve been saying that since the Forest game on New Years Day.
Hopefully MB was again assessing his options in the wake of this weeks transfers

Good workout tonight with the majority playing 90 minutes football
Didn't think tonight's team looked anywhere near as fit & sharp as the squad that played against York. Lots of errors & little fluency particularly in the first-half nevertheless we showed resilience gaining a victory in the end. Fitness is more important than the actual result in friendly games although winning games does breed confidence.

We had one centre back and no strikers.
3 possibly 4 of the starting 11 played tonight.
