Wayne Rooney

Post by Cjay »

We had Totti and Buffon. :)

The Telegraph reporting that Wayne Rooney is in talks with Derby to become a player coach

" Waaaayne is baaaack" Sky cry

"World class icon regained his form in the MLS".

41games  23 goals  12 assists isnt bad going Wayne, maybe you have found your, oh wait.

45 games 38 goals 10 assists, thats a geriatric Zlatan

Our own Jack Harrison managed 14 goals and 10 assists in the MLS in 50 odd games.

But seriously, it would be a good move for Derby if they can pull it off from a commercial stand point.

Footballing? Not so sure, Rooney has looked past it for a long time and when a nearly 40 year old Ibrahimovic is still out performing you then questions will be asked.

I'm sure Mel Morris will buy a pen in the club shop for £60m.

I can see why black managers get aggrieved at things like this. Rooney doesn't exactly strike me as being intelligent enough to be a manager/coach, yet he's still offered a high level for a first job, yet Sol Campbell has to start at Macclesfield.

Another publicity stunt, surely.

Rooney's been cack for at least a decade, and has the charisma of frog spawn.

The irony that the EFL proposed a version of the NFL's 'Rooney Rule' to get more BAME coaches into top level positions is beautiful.

Joining Derby on an 18th month deal in January.

Got to hand it to Mel Morris, he certainly treats FFP as the joke it is

Yeah wonder if Derby interviewed anyone else for the role. As Sara put it it is just a publicity stunt to try to raise the profile of a non-descript club, same as with appointing Lampard last season.

The 'coach' thing is so his wages can be split 50/50 so that only half of his wages count towards FFP. Derby cheating the system yet again.

Derby continuing to make themselves "sky friendly" with the recruitment of a popular player. Like they did when they brought in Frankie. It has brought them all the positive headlines and it will make it easier for them to recruit players both before Thursday if needed and in Jan.

Good move on their part from a business sense as they will probably shift a load of extra shirts.

I can't see Cocu being too pleased about this. He seemed quite pissed off about it yesterday when they asked him.

I'll laugh if they're top when Rooney arrives and he ends up fcking everything up for them.

Let's hope that Sky re-arrange most of their games then and leave us alone for a change :x
