If Brentford could get draw or a win then that set of scores would be good for us.

Derby 1-1 WBA

Barnsley 1-3 Luton

Blackburn 0-0 Cardiff

Charlton 1-0 Brentford ( damn Lee)

Fulham 1-2 Forest

Huddersfield 0-2 Reading ( Shame)

Hull 1-3 Bristol City

Boro 1-1 Millwall

PNE 2-1 Wendies

QPR 3-1 Wigan

Swansea vs Birmingham tomorrow, Swansea with a chance to go level on points with us but need to win by 5 goals to go above.

Aside from Charlton that's a great set of results for us (relatively speaking this early)

Always tricky to judge results this early in the season, you would expect Charlton to finish below Brentford by the end of the season - Brentford seem to be outplaying teams, apart from when they played us, but suffering like we did last season by not taking their chances and then conceding. Forest look like they could be up there looking at their results so far so it might be that Forest become more of a threat than Fulham.

Another yellow card for Dan James for diving. It makes me glad we never signed him, hate diving.

Scum have always had good divers SG. I remember years ago my Mum always going on about Mark Hughes always being on the floor! Thing is, for years under Alex Ferguson they always got away with it....a bit different now though, Refs aren't afraid of Ollie....

Further to this having watched the Brentford highlights the goal they conceded v Charlton yesterday was so reminiscent of the type of goals we conceded last season where there seemed to be acres of space through the central area of our defence. PJ starts of in a good position, his defensive partner nowhere to be seen but shows no awareness of the guy running, unmarked, centrally towards the penalty area. Instead PJ decides to go towards the winger, who is already being marked, and who would likely have only been in a position to cross even if the ball was played to him (the cross would have been played to the unmarked player steaming in as well).

This for me was PJ's biggest weakness in that he had poor awareness and was always attracted to the man or the ball instead of being able to read where the biggest danger was, similarly for Eddie's goal for us he gets attracted towards Costa who isn't in a position to shoot and he, and his fellow centreback, leave Eddie completely unmarked.

I bet if you compared White's stats to PJ you would see PJ doing far more tackles but White making more interceptions and not having many tackles to make as White's reading of the game allows him to take up better positions so he isn't making last ditch tackles or getting isolated. Because he is in a good position it makes the opposition look to play the ball elsewhere rather than towards the striker that White is marking. Someone posted up a graphic showing how few successful passes had been made into our penalty area and this is because of the good reading of the game.

Certainly up to us to keep this unbeaten run going Cjay, apart from Swansea all the other teams seem inconsistent going into the last game of August

Swansea making it 3 from the spot. Giving Birmingham an absolute battering in this second half.
Fair play as Brum have turned up with 5 at the back.

So we anticipate a top of the table clash next week at El.
