The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Monday 14th October) - Tabloids stir over Nketiah recall

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning. It's Monday 14th October, and here are the Leeds Utd headlines...

Tabloids stir over Nketiah

Over the weekend The Sun, Mirror and the Star (so it must be true) all claimed that Eddie Nketiah's time at Elland Road was coming to an end, and the 20 year old was to be recalled in January and sent on loan somewhere else. This sparked a reaction from a host of clubs including Bristol City who narrowly missed out on the Striker in the Summer. Ex White Danny Mills stoked the fire further when asked if Nketiah was banging on the manager’s door

Yeah he is, but he just hasn’t really had a chance at Leeds from the start. It’s an interesting one, clearly it’s something that Bielsa doesn’t quite see in training, playing international football is different, it’s not the same as playing league football and certainly Championship football.

You have to trust Marcelo Bielsa and say what is he not seeing in training? What is not happening for him to not be put in the starting line up? There’s just something that isn’t right. Bielsa clearly doesn’t trust him yet.

If you were Nketiah, how would you be feeling? Has Bielsa treated the youngster badly?

Radrizzani - investment would take the club to a level where we could “compete with Manchester City”

Radrizzani has revealed to Martin Ziegler of The Times that he is considering an offer from Qatar that would take the club to a level where they could “compete with Manchester City”

I’m giving you more information than I ever gave to anyone. I have been approached by more than 20 parties and I have selected these three.

The option of Qatar Sports Investment and Nasser — first of all they are friends, we have had a good relationship for a long time. Secondly, they have the possibility to bring this club to compete with Manchester City, so for the fans that could be a fantastic opportunity.

The second is based in America, he’s a big fan of Leeds United since he was a child, and I like that.

Another one is the owner of an Italian club. With another club you can create synergy to be more competitive and to target the Premier League - we could maybe get a loan to increase the quality of the team.

The big question is, would you want money thrown at the club, so that Leeds could be amongst Europe's elite?

Liverpool lining up £20m offer for Ben White

Various reports in the media are claiming that Liverpool are lining up a 20m offer for Ben White. The 22yo is enjoying the best football of his life at Elland Road having been signed on loan from Brighton in the Summer.

Liverpool have been widely criticised in the past for the way they conduct their transfers (I'm sure we all remember the Harry Kewell affair that left Leeds with nothing once agents fees were paid). In 2017, they were fined, banned from signing academy players and forced to apologise to Southampton for the way they conducted their business in their pursuit of Virgil Van Dijk.

According to the journalist, he could be an ideal backup option and further develop under a manager, who has an impeccable record of improving players and making them world-class!

Will the lure of 20m for a player who hasn't kicked a ball before for the Seagulls be enough to tempt them to part with the centre back? Will the speculation turn White's head, and affect his play? Is there a recall clause in his contract?

Investment

We need investment now if we want promotion & if we reached that goal we'll require investment of the QSI proportion if we are aiming to compete with the big boys

Ben White

Ben's performances won't have gone unnoticed, he has been outstanding since his arrival at ER in the summer. If we lose Ben or Kalvin in the January window our promotion aspirations will be in tatters.

Look at the results since our other key player Pablo's injury.

Without any of these three we are in the mire :(

Morning all.

The papers are always in the look out for any Bielsa related controversy, something that can feed into the El Loco narrative that has obviously still many miles left in its tank.

Because you would be mad to leave a highlight rated future star of the game on the bench, a player who just seems to have the knack of finding the net wherever he plays and who your club has invested half the money they received for their only other striker whi is now finding his feet on foreign soil.

All in the vain hope that the other striker you didnt want at the club will somehow from somewhere find a way to connect with the attacking midfield players on the pitch and actually score a goal.

Wouldn't you?

I am not aware of Ed's personality but by now he surely must be wondering why he is here. A quarter of the season in and he has already scored twice as many as Bamford and still isnt used enough. II liked Eddie when he arrived and saw the possibilities, he could have been integrated more easily via Caraco MB can be so one dimensional at times. Bamford may be a great defensive Striker but we dont need that every week.
Now the pressure is on both Ed and Bamford.

Does MB like Bamford as he is one of the few who understands Spanish?

Investment. We need it. Only way we become a top flight club. No other way round it. Edit. Radz says Leeds wage bill, players and Staff in 40M. That heightens the need for outside money. Maybe they could purchase Bielsas bucket for 10M...

White he stays in we can afford him, see point above.
'
"Football is about the people and the players,” he said. “Then there are those who will mingle in the middle: the coaches, executives and journalists. That last group represents the worst part about football" Marcelo Bielsa

It is a slow day for the newspapers so they need a headline to attract attention and sell copy.
Leeds with a foreign manager are an easy target, especially when a kid on loan from
Arsenal is banging the goals in at international level yet is not being featured in the Leeds starting eleven
To spice it up even more other championship clubs are portrayed as slavering in the wings that
they might have an opportunity to sign Nketiah in January... OH and lets get the Leeds fans
worried that Liverpool will poach Ben White for 20 million.

Now you can fall into one of two camps "the storm in a teacup" or the "no smoke without fire"
and it appears that the "smokey" boys are going into melt down. Panicking when there is nothing
to panic about. There may only be a small inconsequential spark of a fire yet with all that smoke
filling their heads they use a lot of hot air to fan the flames, and what was a throw away bit
of journalism roars up into a bonfire of speculation.

It is up to the storm in a tea cup boys to throw some water on that tiny spark of a fire and extinguish
it before it develops to something that is out of control.

Eddie.

If Bielsa doesnt trust him then make him trust you Eddie. That simple, maybe its what he needs after being in the Arsenal fishbowl. Not sure how much Danny Mills knows though tbh.

Investment.

Will wait and see, bit concerned because why say anything till its done? AR does love publicity and name dropping so lets see.

Ben White.

A quarter of a season in the 2nd division and the European Champions will pay £20mil? I smell bull poo.

Dont think its a coincidence he named the one party everyone will have heard of.

But if its a case of "this may happen when im ready".

Why say anything at all?

He wanted to talk about what he has spent etc ok fair enough but why mention QSI at all i dont get the logic if nothing is at an advanced stage.
