Leeds Weekly 20191202

Post by Norm »

I'm trying to provide data for interest and possible help with competitions and I'm thinking of submitting this after each Leeds league game.

It will include the ELC table, but the traditional one which shows total, home and away segments like they all used to be shown.

Also, it will have a segment with each championship team and their sequences of Wins, Draws and Losses per round of games.

Next it will show all Leeds games this season for home and away results and crowds in chronological order.

Lastly it will give a list of scorers for Leeds, with League, Cup and All totals.

Please bear with me whilst I manage to format this to fit MOT's proportional font - once I get it right I'll have cracked it and can use it much more quickly.

I hope it proves to be useful and I would appreciate feedback after anyone has used it.

Thanks, N

Great idea Norm, always preferred the home-away format of the league tables.

Ges, I've got a problem with dates. In the US my spreadsheet is formatted 'mmddyyyy' so I can't use that and have to think of alternatives.
Also, I can't establish a non-proportional font on MOT so tables have to be jiggled to keep columns in even a loose sense of line.

I'm going to leave this mess until I can somehow present it in a more attractive light, because the ELC table I've submitted is crap atm.
In fact, I'm late for a few drinks with friends so I'll work with this tomorrow.

Talk to you later.

what about taking a screenshot of the table and using it so you can get around the formatting issues.

I have similar problems when posting lyrics and chords to a ukulele forum. I have to use a font like courier and also use the place holders - to surround the text.

I think if you used the courier font and also the CODE place holders you could get something like this
and not use those dashes to fill things out. Took me about 5 minutes to test the hypothesis that it would work.

Code: Select all

20191202 Total Home Away
2019-2020 GP W D L FT AT W D L F A W D L F A GD P

LeedsUnited 19 12 4 3 28 10 6 2 1 13 4 6 2 2 15 6 18 40
WestBromA 19 12 6 1 36 19 5 4 0 23 14 7 2 1 13 5 17 42
Fulham 19 10 5 4 31 19 6 2 2 20 11 4 3 2 11 8 12 35

Putting on my Sherlock hat my dear Watson I would surmise that
For Total = FT and Against Total = AT

OK - finally awake after imbibing last night.
Thanks for the suggestions Rab - very helpful and kind of you.

I've copied the data as a picture and have successfully pasted it into a WORD document to test it out but, as I have tried to paste the item into a thread on MOT without success so far (Ctrl+V), maybe there's something in the use of CODE which enables it.

You should ask Leon how he pastes his screenshots into the forum. I expect you would need to save the tables as a .jpeg or .ping or .gif

Regarding the CODE method you can just use plain text as long as the font is courier and you would just highlight it Ctrl-C to copy and Ctrl-C to paste it in between the Code blocks. You have to be in advanced mode to see the Code option.

Actually I couldn't replicate the other items so all I've done is get lucky once and then fail 4 times.
I've been at this now for 14 hours and I'm sick of this so I'm going to cancel my initial intention and forget the whole idea.
Leon thanks for the copy of the instructions but I think there's something lacking in them, because I followed them faithfully but couldn't get anywhere with them apart from the initial try.
Goodnight folks
