It's how we respond to this which is crucial. It's worse than Derby earlier in the season. We have no one to tell the players to calm down and keep cool, that's the problem.

Re: Leeds Utd v Cardiff City Match Thread - Bielsa names unchanged starting XI
We were on a 7 game winning run when Hull beat us last December.
We then lost 3 of our next 5.
I think its understandable if people are concerned today tbh, we have been here before. In the end being 3 up with 30 minutes to go and notwinning isnt acceptable to anyone surely?
Hopefully will be different but the ghosts of the past live on in the memory.

Re: Leeds Utd v Cardiff City Match Thread - Bielsa names unchanged starting XI
last season shmast season...different team and better..
AND HULL BEAT US! ..DON'T KNOW IF YOU NOTICED BUT CARDIFF DIDN'T!!
There's no logical sequence here. Comparisons with last season are for those that won't walk under ladders and stay indoors on FRI 13th.
We may not win a single game again before the end of the season, Fulham may beat us 17-0 but it would have nothing to do with what happened last season! ..

How we respond is vital, the next 4 games could define our season in many ways.
Fulham away.
Preston home
Birmingham away
WBA away.
10 point gap doesnt look to safe now, 13 points and we could have lost all of them and still veen top 2.
Today was a major blow.

I think the mental fragility shows in the fans and rubs off onto the players during a game. It takes a minor blip on the pitch to create a massive mountain which all of a sudden gets steeper & steeper to climb thus giving the opposing team a sniff of a weakness which is a well known Leeds United trait and then it all nosedives from there. We are desperate to get promoted and so are the club. We are on a tremendous run but suddenly it feels like the wheels have come off but of course they haven't...but God help everyone at LUFC if they have a bad result next week. The gap may well be down to 7 and then we're in a crisis !faaip wrote:Kinda shocked we're talking about blowing it in DEC on the back of a 11 game unbeaten run which included 7 straight and a lot of clean sheets...Offer that to the fans of 22 other clubs in the division..

Its what happens when complacency sets in and the one team above all others who shouldn't be complacent is Leeds !Anonymous wrote:Really disappointed. Feels like a loss to drop the points from such a commanding lead. I thought we looked gutless in the second half, just lost that sense of urgency. Big test against Fulham now.

In a strange way this result might just be the one that makes us even stronger and more difficult to beat. During the week the club will analyze todays game and it will hopefully make them more determined than ever not to f*** up again before seasons end ! I have a feeling Fulham will need their 'A game' to get anything next week.

Pressure does bad things to these players, saw that last season.
Need to beat Fulham imo to restore confidence.

We lose a couple and then doubts start to creep in. No point having a good run now if we're going to have another terrible second half of the season. My issue is all season we've not conceded more than 1 other than Millwall, now we concede 3 after being in a comfortable lead. Things like this can change a season and our defence could turn to sht second half of the season.

I think today can be summed up in two words
s**t Happens
If that had been us outplayed and second rate then an infinitesimal pause for thought, but everyone played well to a degree and we played them off the park.

Will see what these players are made of now, hard run coming up, can they get back on track, hopefully, we arent 2nd by accident.
Forest, Derby, Preston, Swansea and now Cardiff.
We have to stop dropping points when we shouldnt be, its ok losing to the better side but we cant keep dropping points in games we should win.
Teams that win promotion win when they shouldn't, we have done that to but far to often this season we have done the opposite, dropped points when we shouldnt.
Lets beat Fulham, Preston and WBA now

I feel like an Arsenal fan to complain given where we are and the run we've been on, but there's always that nagging lingering of doubt with us and the media will try and make a mountain out of it to try and knock us off guard. It seems weird to say it, but we can't afford to lose next game as the momentum could soon swing.

Fulham have lost to Brentford, Preston, Brizzle, Hull, Stoke, Forest and Barnsley, drawn v Cardiff, WBA, Charlton and Boro, so using your logic they're not good enough for promotionCjay wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2019 7:17 pm Will see what these players are made of now, hard run coming up, can they get back on track, hopefully, we arent 2nd by accident.

Preston had lost 4 on the spin recently, plus other poor results so they can't go up either
Lets look at Brentford, beaten by Wednesday, Blackburn, Hudds, Forest, Preston, Charlton, Us, Birmingham...few draws too ...nope they've blown it too
should I go on or do you have 2/3 teams that have showed the "right form"? Outside of us and Brom that is

Hate to say it, but Bielsa has to take some responsibility for today.

Think of the league as a whole folks, not just from our perspective. Teams will take points off each other we don't need to win every game, get 138 points to go up. We just need to do better than 22 other teams and none of those are setting the league on fire atm.
