Man Utd fans deluded if they think Marcelo Bielsa would move to Old Trafford

Post by YorkshireSquare »

I’m sure supporters of plenty of other clubs think Leeds fans are an entitled lot, but I don’t think we really are. We’ve had periods where we were flying high, winning cups and titles and competing at the top of European football. But we’ve had plenty of lows too and spent nearly half of our 100 year existence outside of the top flight. Leeds fans don’t think we have a right to be in the Premiership, we don’t expect to win all the time, we just desire a team that shows the passion and commitment that us as fans demonstrate on a weekly basis. It helps that everyone else hates us too, it makes being Leeds special, other people don’t “get” what it is to be Leeds, but we do.

Those ups and downs ground us, it means when we do experience those highs we experience them to the full. Limbs and bodies everywhere, bruised shins, the “flying Leeds fan”, finding yourself ten rows forward in the ecstasy of a ninetieth minute winner. It’s in stark contrast to our old foe across the Pennines. Twenty-one years of success has made Manchester United fans one of the most entitled bunch of supporters in world football, and now things aren’t going their way they are spitting the dummy in spectacular fashion. Sat fifth in the Premier League they are protesting about their owners and vice-chairman despite them having spent £1 Billion in the seven years since Alex Ferguson left.

Now, just like the spoilt brats they are they’ve seen something shiny and they want it for themselves. Leeds United may have been knocked out of the FA Cup by Arsenal but their first half domination at The Emirates proved what a good coach can do. Marcelo Bielsa’s side dominated possession, pressed Arsenal and carved out chance after chance playing the kind of one touch, passing football that most Manchester United fans wish their team were capable of playing. Who needs £1 Billion to waste on supposed stars when your head coach can make Stuart Dallas look like Kylian Mbappé.

The clamour for Bielsa to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjær started that night on social media that night and has continued ever since, “Excruciating to watch. No Poch, no Allegri, nobody else. Go to Leeds and beg Bielsa to come to United”, and it has been stirred up again in recent days by TalkSport’s Tony Cascarino

I'd have Bielsa over Pochettino every day of the week. Look at what he's changed at Leeds. Pochettino was a very good manager at Spurs. He's done an incredible job. But I'm talking about style of play. Remember, Pochettino is a disciple of Bielsa and the way he plays.

But if any Manchester United fan really believes that Marcelo Bielsa would take the Old Trafford job they are even more entitled and overindulged than I thought. Purity of football is what excited Marcelo Bielsa, he’s much more about playing the game in pure, exciting way which will entertain the fans. He’s less about winning and glory, more about the passion and the entertainment. The joy he has found in English football comes much more from the Championship and League One rather than the commercialised, sanitised Premier League. Something their club embodies more than any other.

The same man that pays his own fines and donates the majority of his wage to his former club, Newell's Old Boys, is not the same man that abandons a project for the financial lure Manchester United can offer. I said before that other don’t “get” what it’s about to be a Leeds United fan, but Marcelo Bielsa seems to get it. He understands what this club and this city are about and it resonates with him. There is no way he would sell his soul to the “Red Devils” and if they believe he would for a second they are an even more entitled bunch than I thought they were.

Old Trafford, Marcelo Bielsa, Manchester United, Entitled, Deluded, Tony Cascarino, Newell's Old Boys, Premier League

If Marcelo went there I'd lose what faith I have left in humanity, and probably never trust my judgment of a person again.
Leeds are a myth.

This is a man who we all look up to for who he is and what he stands for. From everything we know there’s not a chance he’d go there.

Tbf that quote is just some guy saying he'd prefer bielsa rather than poch as manager... Can't really see anything wrong with that! It's not like he's saying bielsa will definitely move.

I don't really agree with that either to be honest, I'd much rather have pochettino here! Bielsa, despite being a great tactician, has never really had much success as a manager - poch getting spurs to the Champs league final was a huge achievement.

...and we ought to watch some of the criticisms I' ve seen on here in the last few weeks. We're all entitled to our opinions and all, but we really should be thinking about the legend he is and what he has done for us since he came here. He's the best thing to join us in many a long year and I appreciate the heck out of him and all he's trying to do for us.

I've always been fascinated by the phrase 'The fans of Club X' are so entitled.

What exactly does this mean?

How does it manifest itself in terms of actual behaviour? That is, what do these fans do to prove they are entitled?

There are plenty of similar comments on social media. It's the expectation that if they offered the job to Bielsa he would jump at it.

Being 5th in the Premier League and complaining about how how poorly the team are doing.

Complaining about the owners taking cash from the club despite being the biggest spenders in the league having spen over £1 Billion on their squad.

Expecting a manager who is in post at another club just because Manchester United come calling.

I'm sure that there are those who do that.

Bit of a non story this.

And this entitled lark...

ManU fans love their club just the same as everyone else does, without that in the game there is no game.

And in another thought, to all those who like to attach the word 'scum' to other football fans.
Millscum, Chelscum etc....

I save that moniker for others who are way more qualified, people who mug old folks, paedophiles, politicians who know what is right and have it in their power to do it and dont. And the like.

Rant over.

Now have we signed the French kid yet?
'We can wait for the next game with serenity'

'I am quite clear in my mind that one has to feel sincere love for those he leads, and if he doesn't feel it naturally, then he must learn how to feel it' Marcelo Bielsa

True, but their team! Ugh. It's why I refer to ManU as scum, but never their fans.

Now have we signed the French kid yet?

No, but apparently Leipzig and Monaco have agreed to terminate his loan agreement.
