when teams start going into self isolation, even on completion will be difficult to complete season as other teams go into self isolation.

what would happen if season cannot be completed, even behind closed doors?
I am sure there must be a rule somewhere in the FA regulations and if not Shawn Harvey will be busily drafting one to keep Leeds in the championship.

Massive difference playing in front of 40 thousand fans and in front of one cameraman and his dog..No way you get the same intensity, and it will feel like a training ground game..It should be a great leveler if we do go RoS behind closed doors

That makes sense, it would take the pressure off the leagues to finish on time.

Playing behind closed doors is pointless as PSG fans showed yesterday.

Thousands of them were outside the stadium which obviously makes the closed doors thing useless.

At the game Liverpool could secure the title or at the game we could secure promotion people will stand outside the stadium.

I say postpone the league like Italy and Spain have done, peoples health comes first and if they cancel the Euros then hopefully when the worst is over we can finish domestic leagues.

Seems bizarre to me to suggest closed stadiums if you keep supermarkets open. Just think how many people go through the doors at the big Tesco, the staff getting all the germs from every customer and passing them on etc.

people need to go to supermarkets for food and supplies, people do not need to go to a football match.

Italy have the right idea, close all shops except for food and pharmacies

can't tell if this is a joke or not...

It's entirely different...not only are there way more people together at any one time in a football match, they're also all stood/sitting right next to each other - in a supermarket you typically have a sufficient space between people to limit the transmission of the virus...on average each person only infects 2.5 people or something like that - it's not as if one infected person goes into the supermarket and everyone else immediately gets infected...if you're sick you can also usually get someone else to do your shopping...

if this example was used, why are we doing anything to stop it spreading if we all need to "end up going to the supermarkets anyway!"

it's all to limit the spread through postponing/cancelling/putting behind closed doors non-essential events

That is fair enough but every person comes into close proximity with the person working at the checkout (unless they do the self scan thing). As such if you pay by cash you touch money that they then touch and they can then touch thousands of people or you get the receipt from them, they touch every item you buy as they scan. So someone with the virus touches an item, the checkout person touches it then wipes their nose they have it, they touch every customers items etc etc. Same as with a cold unless you live in a bubble you have a very high chance of getting it even with minimal contact with people.

Yesterday a parcel came for one of our neighbours. So in taking in that parcel I was immediately at risk of catching it from the person who delivered it who would have been in close contact with 100s or 1000s of people in the last weeks alone, not to mention all the germs on the electronic pad that you scribble your signature on with your finger. The neighbour comes to collect and I am then at risk from everyone she met recently, and all the people that she'd met had met recently, and all the people etc etc.

Unless you completely self isolate then chances are you'll catch it regardless of whether you go to a footy match or not.

For me cancelling footy matches at this point is like shutting the gate after the horse has bolted.

And just a couple of weeks ago went to the theatre with the missus. Got the metro into Manchester, not many people on it, get into Manchester City Centre and some Bruge fans got on the metro (on their way to Old Trafford) and boom there you go my immune system has just been opened up to the entire world as those Bruge fans presumably travelled by plane and went through Brussels and Manchester Airports. It just makes little sense to me to ban fans congregating to watch a match when simply anyone you meet in normal day to day activities can open you up to the whole world via people they have been in contact with and the people those people had been in contact with etc.

So.....

No stadium closures at this juncture.

Sounds like it will happen in a few weeks.

I think a lot depends on how quickly they learn more about it. At the moment all we hear is that it has a higher fatality rate than normal flu but the percentages are seriously flawed at this moment in time as there will likely have been lots (potentially millions) of people who have had the virus and are now completely fine and just thought it was a bit of a cold and not the virus.
