Hello. We live in the 21st century, in the world of information technology. Yesterday I read one article, it was a fantastic read. And I realized how the world has changed over the past 20 years. Technology has never evolved at such a speed. I hope that in the current time there will not be a global world crisis and we will survive this difficult time with ease.

We talk about the rapid rate of technological change in my classes. I remember when Alvin Toffler came out with the book Future Shock back in 1970; it made quite a splash. One of Toffler's central theses was that, as the pace of technological changes follows its geometric progression, people will become more and more overwhelmed by it.woodfordwhites wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 11:32 am Hello. For a time that held true, but people these days have not only become more comfortable with rapid advances in technology, they have come to expect and even demand it.
The good news is that, within the lifetimes of those being born now, advances in artificial intelligence and robotics will transform human society in ways that will make pandemics like this largely a thing of the past. The bad news is that those same advances will make humans largely obsolete.
