We still have the JKA situation to sort out. If we're forced to pay £18 million and have his wages to pay on a long contract that will be disastrous. Seems like we got sold a dodgy 3 wheeler by Delboy.

Vertonghen has left Spurs. I'd defo take him on a year deal.

Been reading a few reports this weekend and David looks really good. Almada looks good in same position from what I've seen so far.SG90 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 9:18 am Here's an analysis/scout report on Jonathan David, for those wanting to know more https://totalfootballanalysis.com/playe ... is-tactics
I 'm not excited by Wilson either. With a lot of the strikers getting mentioned, I'd rather just see Bamford get another year.

Re: The "Summer" Transfer Window 20/21 season
Had a little read on Jonathan David myself.
The Gent Chairmen mentioning us makes me think we have at least asked about him so some meat to the rumour.
Given he is only 20 (and only turned 20 in January) his record in the Belgian league is exceptional, especially compared to some well known players.
With minutes played taken into account (and remembering he is largely a number 10).
Jonathan David- 38.1 games 26 goals 12 assists goal contribution every 90.4 minutes
Mitrovic 46.2 games 27 goals 8 assists goal contribution every 118.9mins
Lukaku 42.9 games 29 goals 10 assists, goal contribution 99mins
Osinhen (the guy Lille want him to replace) 22.5 games 12 goals 3 assists, goal contribution 135 2mins
De Bruyne (a midfielder like David) 49.4 games 13 goals 19 assists, goal contribution 139mins
Roofe 12.9 games 6 goals 2 assists, goal contribution 142.2
Wesley (very expensive Villa flop) 52.8 games 19 goals 13 assists goal contribution 148.7
Its very impressive given his age, i imagine many of those bigger names were a similar age then and David is significantly better then all but Lukaku.

Re: The "Summer" Transfer Window 20/21 season
He looks relly impressive from what I've seen so far. The drawback for me would be the fee - 23m. If you look at Almada as a alternative, they were talking 11m. If I were to pick between the two, I'd probably take Almada. But David does look a really good player, I'd be thrilled with the signing. Financially, it might cost us a little in our future pursuits.
Btw - Not sure you can call Wesley a flop yet - he just got injured

Also the going rate for a foreign player that has moved to an English club and had a good season. We need to find the foreign jewels.Clacton White wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 2:51 pm Maybe the going rate for a bang average English player these days . You certainly pay over the odds for English players .

True, although he is Welsh.Clacton White wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 2:51 pm Maybe the going rate for a bang average English player these days . You certainly pay over the odds for English players .
Any player from the PL will be ridiculously overpiced, or even from the Championship. Far more value for money in Argentina. The football economy isn't wealthy and that's why you see players going to Netherlands/Portugal and then sold on for enormous sums. We need to get in on that.

Re: The "Summer" Transfer Window 20/21 season
It's easy to compare David with Wesley I suppose, but I'd never heard of Wesley before and I'd heard of David and the clubs he was being linked with, before being linked with us. Also one has Dean Smith as manager, the other would potentially have Bielsa.
If you look at Lille, they sold Pepe for £72m and replaced him with Osimhen, who they then sold for £60m. They can obviously spot the potential in David and how much he can be sold on for.

Personally i think we should do both if possible.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 2:43 pm He looks relly impressive from what I've seen so far. The drawback for me would be the fee - 23m. Not sure we would get enough goals and assists from Harrison and Costa from the flanks (although maybe Poveda can change that) and we definitely need a 10.
Both of them for what £40-50mil would be a bargain.
How much would Bournemouth want for David Brooks?
Villa for Grealish?
Decent in the Prem but neither spectacular, probably talking £40mil plus for 1.
We need to turn away from domestic Imo, its to expensive, bargains to be had elsewhere.
Maybe a bit to soon to call Wesley a flop but £20mil for a 1 in 4 record isnt great.

Will Brexit influence the number of foreign players that can play for premiership teams.

And is there a loophole to be exploited by getting players into the U23 and claiming that they are "home grown"

Reed who was on loan to Fulham looked very good against us too.
Every game I predict a 3 - 1 Leeds win, I am traditional like that.

I think we'll be ok Home Grown at the moment. We have at least 8 as long as they all get included in the final 25 which they should

We have at least 6, 7 max as Struijk turns 21 in August, but not sure when it "officially" will start ie fixture list release. If you turn 21 during the season you don't count as homegrown. We need 8 minimum or we lose a squad place.
Chelsea had a 20 man squad a few years back.

The rule seems to say they must have played for an English club/s for 3 years before 21. It doesn't say they have to be 21
Currently, to be classified as homegrown one must be on an English team for at least three years before the age of twenty-one[4] which Dyke wanted to reduce to eighteen. This would mean that a teenager would have to start at the club by the age of fifteen at the latest and, since players are not allowed to move across national boundaries before sixteen (except under exceptional circumstances), this would mean fewer foreign players could qualify as homegrown.

An extra £18m player in his place could do wonders next year. Seems a very expensive mess to meWhite Riot wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 3:58 am We still have the JKA situation to sort out.
