I agree with those who say we need to be more clinical as chances will be fewer and farther between in the PL, and that starts with our front three, of course, but I think Bielsa has shown that his system provides goals from a wide variety of sources. We'll get our share of goals even without a 25-goal striker.
I think if Bamford had got 20 goals last season it would have been considered a decent season. But then would you take a striker scoring 20 goals and contributing nothing else over Bamford?

A key game last season was the WBA match where Bamford was on the bench and Nketiah started. We were 1-0 down at half time and looked completely out of sorts. PB came on at half time and immediately set about bullying WBA. We were a different team and it showed how much better the team was when all the cogs were aligned.

It shows that you don't need to have a prolific forward. If Bamford got 10 next season in many ways it would represent an excellent season (as long as others chipped in a few too).

Last season showed we were capable of losing to any team, next season will be the same but hopefully a few other players will have a bit more goal threat about them. It showed, after restart, how much difference it makes when we have goals going in from everywhere. That's the key to this team winning because you can't mark every player so we need Luke Ayling to keep scoring, Dallas too, we need Klich, Costa, Pablo, Roberts, Harrison scoring, we need people like Alioski, Poveda and Shackleton coming in and scoring too.
How many clear-cut chances did we miss this season?

Bamford, Harrison, Klich, Costa & Roberts need to be a bit more clever & hit the onion bag more often, all five should have scored a few more goals, it will be much tougher in the premiership against higher grade defences

Agree we were going nowhere in the first-half, possibly could have won the game in the second period

Bamford does work incredibly hard to his credit.

The only one of our front three I’d like to see start the new season is Harrison, on the right, Benrahma on the left, Cavani up top :P

At the end of the day Brentford's front three scored 59, whereas our front three didn't even manage half that amount. It's a strange situation to have three pretty poor finishers as our front men. We probably wont be able to rely too much on the assistance of OG next season either - 7 goals, which is more than Harrison or Costa managed.

In the end the 5-0 win over Stoke, and some other good results after the resumption made our goal total for the season relative to Brentford's look much better, but for much of the season we were trying to scrape 1-0 wins.

It's crazy how people try to justify things. Our 5-0 win made our goal total look better. Yeah that's what happens. Brentford's 7-0 in v a disjointed Luton giving them gifts helped their goal total too you know. Brentford were a flat track bully preying on weaker teams. Their BMW went missing again just like they did every time the pressure was on.

Our front three got us promoted. Our midfield got us promoted. Our defence got us promoted. Our goalkeeper got us promoted. Our bench got us promoted. Our coach got us promoted. Our owners got us promoted.

Norwich fans could have said exactly the same thing prior to the start of last season. Surely the end is to be a top 6 PL side again, not just to win promotion ? I'm slightly concerned that some people feel that promotion is an end in itself. We were a top 6 First Division and PL side between 1991 and 2001, and that's surely what we are ultimately aiming for again ?

Thanks Norm - so OG accounts for more than 10% of our total goal tally, and half the total of our leading scorer.

So if you believe that the goal scoring side of things in terms of our front 3 is fine, then great, keep believing that....Let's see how that works out in the PL.

Don't forget that Bielsa himself bemoaned the lack of efficiency in the final third for much of the season. Just before, and then after the break the midfielders and full backs weighed in with some goals, which really helped matters.

With you there Chapel. We were a top 3 1st division side (some would say a top 1) for most of the late 60s early 70s, so I hope we see promotion to the Premier league as just the start and not end of our ambitions.

I'm sure all of us want to be a top six Premiership side, and not just surviving. But a little realism needs to be considered. Most or all of the top six sides this season, have been in the Premiership for years - spending vast amounts of the TV money the've received each year, on bolstering their teams. Here we are trying to enter the top-six club, with the promise of one season's pot of gold to finance it.

I would be delighted if we did that in one season, but I'm realistic enough to consider a stabilising season as a success. The longer we are in the Premiership, the more hope we have of financing the sort of team which will break into that top six, and stay there.
