I would but that's me. 25 M would be a bit of a steal for us imo...About 7 M using CJay's theory and we paid 21 plus for Rio. I think we'll be getting a better player than Rio
£25mil for a top level player isnt much in England (thats because our market is vastly inflated)
Doesnt make it a bargain though in my opinion .
Liverpool are refusing to pay £27mil for Thiago who is on a different planet to Ben White atm.
Brighton expected to reject anyway apparently.
Would you go higher Faaip?

' "Football is about the people and the players,” he said. “Then there are those who will mingle in the middle: the coaches, executives and journalists. That last group represents the worst part about football" Marcelo Bielsa
I know they are different scenarios (specifically with age difference) but I can't help but feel that there are a lot of parallels with Ben White's loan to y'all and Tyrone Mings coming to Villa a couple years ago. both ended up being very good loans, but neither had inserted the option to purchase at the end of the deal. We ended up breaking our transfer record (i believe) to get him from Bournemouth (around 27/28 mil).

It's a 'steal' for Brighton, if there any mugs out there willing to pay that much for a Championship cb. A better player than Ferdinand, let's not get ahead of ourselves. There are other more cheaper, experienced and viable options across Europe, as already highlighted.
totally agree 25m orta has got blinkers on as i keep saying we could get 2 CB for that money because we need 2 CB. ill tell you know brighton has been waiting for this and they will accept this offer. ridiculous

You say Orta has the blinkers on, Scooby, but it is just as likely that Bielsa has told Orta to do whatever he can to get White. I agree that £25m for a lad unproven at the highest level is ridiculous, but this may not be being driven by VO.

The club seem confident we have the funds to do the business required, even if we spend £30 million on White alone
Once Ben has played in the premiership & eventually plays for England his value will double, maybe treble the transfer fee we pay for him

Brighton have put a price on Ben White and it is
£50 Million
That is why they have rejected 3 bids off Leeds.
Now that is taking the piss . Unproven at top level , I think he will be excellent , but that is yet to be proven . That in Man City prices , can't see City coming in , Cess maybe , not City and I don't think Cess would splash that amount on him .
Am I right in saying that no-one else has put in a concrete bid for Ben? If so, then Brighton are sniffing glue if they think that any club, even us who really want him, will pay £50m for a lad that hasn't kicked a ball in the Prem. I don't know if they are/were hoping for a bidding war, but that looks unlikely in the current climate where all but the super wealthy have to be prudent with their spending. Reassured to hear/read that we are looking elsewhere, we cannot be held to ransom over one player. No matter how well he did for us last season. £25m has to be our absolute limit, and even that is too much, imo.

Ben White is no Woodgate or Ferdinand for that matter, give your heads a wobble. Far to expensive he may turn out to be fabulous and better than both but I think not personally.

Regarding Ben White,I think Leeds will make another bid of 5-10 million on top of their bids so far and call it a day if not accepted.
£30/£35 million bid!! That would be deranged. I really hope we have now come to the very end of this disappointing cul de sac.
The more we persist now with chasing Ben the more it would seem to indicate that we don’t really have a realistic alternative to turn to.

Bielsa wants him so who knows how much Leeds are going to go up to before deciding no.
When it comes to injuries we can still get some back ups as well, who knows over the course of the season we have suffered before.

Not a huge Rio fan tbh, good on the ball (not sure better than white though) but he did like to get out of the way of a hard hit shot ..Woodgate I might give you but he went and blotted his copybook badly

That's footballers for you
Although comparing a championship centre back with the other two is a little unfair. Genuinely hope he turns out as good as people think he might.
Actually I don't think so as I don't think there's much between the bottom 10 of the prem and most of the Championship. Go ask Sunderland Stoke and a few others.
