I have Sandanista on vinyl, never saw the necessity to buy on CD.

I love Sandinista. A proper good album and loads of risk taking and experimentation.......no way does it top London Calling though (in my....not at all humble opinion)

He is, aye. From the Scouse side of the family!1964white wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 5:48 pm Is Ed Alleyne Johnson your cousin Durly?
His debut 1992 album Purple Electric Violin Concerto was a regular playlisted cd in the music store I owned, sold many copies of that album, we generally kept our playlist light, inoffensive & easy on the ear such as EAJ, Enya, Enigma, etc selling 1000's of albums through impulsive purchases. We use to stock a minimum of ten copies of Enya's Shepherd's Moon on the shelves. I reckon we were the only store who stocked Alleyne Johnson's. It's amazing how much escalator music we sold.
Seen Ed busking in York & Chester (I think) over the last ten years.
I have Purple Electric Violin Concerto & Echoes on my shelves

I saw the AC/DC thread so put on Metallica, obvious move I think. Reload today the massively underated Metallica album but one of their best and most experimental. Better than Load as it doesn't have the awful Until it Sleeps on it, but it does have Marianne Faithful on it

I watched the Brian Johnston with Lars Ulrich episode on Sky Arts last night. You forget that they've being going for so long when you see early concert footage, when they're only 19 in the early/mid 1980's.faaip wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 7:14 pm I saw the AC/DC thread so put on Metallica, obvious move I think. They have always seemed a band that have grown together without the potentially band splitting personality clashes that most bands seem to experience after a number of years (unless they're just very good at keeping such clashes in-house).

Currently listening to the brilliant 1983 album by melodic, anarcho punk band The Mob - Let The Tribe Increase.

Contemporaries of the likes of Crass, Conflict and Flux Of Pink Indians but a very different sound.

The Mercylane one is a new project from Ron Austin, who was the drummer with one of my absolute favourite bands of the early 90s, The God Machine. First new music he's recorded in about 25 years.

With the obvious exception of Dave Mustaine, Cliff Burton (RIP) and Jason Newstead of course..I prefer Newstead's basswork over Rob's slappier stuff. Burton was a legend, died too youngMuppet the Cat wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 7:27 pm I watched the Brian Johnston with Lars Ulrich episode on Sky Arts last night. Grover Washington 'Feels So Good'
Jazz started to go in new directions in the late 60's and 70's and this album is a prime example. Infused with a R&B backbone, this album is laced with the sexy sax sound that Grover does so well.

Always thought that they were better with Bon Scott than Johnston. His voice grates on me a bit.Muppet the Cat wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 7:27 pm I watched the Brian Johnston with Lars Ulrich episode on Sky Arts last night.
