Exactly, bought it, listened to it once, felt it was very Andrew Lloyd Webber, and I can't stand ALW

I agree, it's her worst but I still really love the first track on it where she duets with Bertie. Worth buying just for that, in my opinion.

I can easily tell after one listen...sometimes an album is just plain bad. The Elton John in particular stinks the album up badly and it's convoluted, forced and sits badly in her cannon...I think there's one track I'd take off it as tolerable...And yes it does remind me of the sort of inane music/lyrics ALW and whomever he's collaborating with writes.
Problem is it was a massive drop off for a talented artist and we do it with Leeds..We know how good we can play so we slag off a poor game and defeat even though it's still better than most teams on a bad day.

I will admit it's not in the same league as her previous album 'Aerial'faaip wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 1:27 pm I can easily tell after one listen...sometimes an album is just plain bad. I definitely agree with you on that point NorfolkNorfolkWhite wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 12:49 pm Maybe it's a year of "not bests" as all the top three artists have produced better albums IMVHO.

Oh, I don't know about that faaip. Surfer is definitely a more accessible record and the quality throughout is better, but there is a lot fluff on it. Clunkers all over Dolittle to be sure but the high points are higher imo. I think it depends what's important to you.
And speaking of Dolittle, I always loved the UK Surf version of Wave of Mutilation more than the original. Here's a link for those who might not have heard it before. Check it out, worth a spin:
