Re: Album of 1989 - Paddy, SG, Westgate to VOTE

Post by The Subhuman »

I love Dolittle but it's a little more polished and lacks that excitement you got with Surfer Rosa ..From that drum intro to Bone Machine to the 90's best single track in the jaw dropping Gigantic which kicks off the best run of four on any album ..River Euphrates, Where is my Mind and Cactus....

Best track for me on Dolittle is Gouge Away tucked away right at the end

Wish I'd been here

Safe to say Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV is a god whichever Pixies album is your poison

Not at all Cat, don't think the Sigur Ros album will appeal to many or gain enough votes to win, it's an acquired taste & just happens to be my favourite in what was another poor year for music imo!

Tom Waits 'Mule Variations' or The Flaming Lips 'Soft Bulletin' would have been my other choices.

I've left RHCP's 'Californication' for you rock/guitar fans to scramble over which is the more likely winner unfortunately

I think Where is My Mind is likely my favorite Pixies track of all time (although it's a little worn out now owing to it's deserved popularity).

From Dolittle Gouge Away is very good, as are Wave, Debaser, and Here Comes Your Man. Though I think my choice would be Hey.

Nice video btw, and yeah Paz is awesome.

Ditto, also SR. Just need someone to do Tom Waits, Bonnie Prince Billy, and Mogwai, and that's my top five.

Might nominate Dark Star though, just to be unfashionable.

Best albums by four of my favourite artists makes it a good year for me. Some decent outliers too.

Torn between Sigur Ros and Death In Vegas for the top spot.

It'll probably be Moby, or something...
