Re: Manchester Utd v Leeds Utd Match Thread
Bielsa got this wrong im afraid.
While its admirable we should have learned vs Chelsea, better players all over the pitch will exploit us man for man.
While we have this Championship defence we shouldn't be going man for man against much better squads.
MB was to stubborn today.
That being said, we could have scored 3 or 4 ourselves.
But imo man for man is totally wrong against better players, its stubborn to not adapt occasionally

Overrunning us in midfield, they have more men in there, Klich has too much to do

We avoid that start and we'd be in this and probably level...but the defence was all at sea first 5 minutes and we paid the price.

How to ruin a game after 3 minutes. Game over after 20mins? Well not quite. Bamford as had a few good chances and Captain Liam shows the rest of them how to head a ball. Cooper singlehandedly as kept the score to 4. I can count 3 blocks first half that were certain goals. It has to be said that MU have carved us up like a good breast of Turkey first half. That's the difference in quality folks between Newcastle and MU. One can play.
Only Cooper comes out with any credit from that first half. At 4-1 it would take a miracle, cos i feel MU may be looking for a record score here. Depressing, especially after getting myself so worked up for the game. I nearly turned it off and i'm sure many have.

To be fair I expected this kind of walloping from Liverpool and still expect it's gonna be this way against Citeh, Chelsea, Spurs, Leicester, etc.
We're not at the level of these teams yet.
We'll stay up no bother, but needs to add quality as we move forward.
If we beat Burnley and WBA then I couldn't care less about this match.

Re: Manchester Utd v Leeds Utd Match Thread
It's basically Klich on his own as we don't use a true 10 in mid since Saiz left, and that's a lot of ground to cover. He's playing well including a lovely chip for BamfordYorkshireSquare wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 5:24 pm Overrunning us in midfield, they have more men in there, Klich has too much to do

Re: Manchester Utd v Leeds Utd Match Thread
I don't think it's all down to the defence. Our midfield gets overrun when we lose the ball upfield because we have committed too many on the attack. It's commendable that MB won't change for these sort of games but imo that's also causing our problems. These teams know how to play us and they're far too fast on the attack for us to deal with.Cjay wrote:Bielsa got this wrong im afraid.

Not sure who is on the bench that can help fix this, losing the ball an being done by runners, only because of some poor choices they would have had a couple more gilt edged chances.
For morale sake we need to keep the score down now, tbey will be looking to fill their boots.

Rodrigo plays higher and Klich is on his own in there. We need another 8 for games like this.

Looks like we're gonna try playing with a midfield and defence this half, good idea Marcelo
