Just sick and tired of the slagging off of our players. Newly promoted, doing their best. Just take a look at Fulham and WBA FFS! We are 11th in the PREMIER LEAGUE......'nuff said

Its our first season back in the prem ffs! Let's be EXTREMELY happy being a mid PL side at best!CHAPELALLMAN wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 11:28 pm Let's keep looking back at how we won the championship with mainly championship players and thereby stay a mid PL side at best by refusing to move on from some of the mainstays of that side. You would think that we have an excellent defensive record which we are afraid of tinkering with...
As someone else mentioned, Ayling acts more like a captain on the pitch. Cooper has no presence in the air quite simply - I've lost count of the number of times that the ball comes in to the box an inch or two above his head. It's usually a case of ' he didn't quite make it. '
White was an inexperienced CB at the start of last season - I remember many saying that we were taking a big chance with such an inexperienced player. Well 1.5 seasons later he is a decent PL CB....If you are good enough you are old enough. At one time the club took a chance on inexperienced teens such as Lorimer, Hunter and Gray...
Coops wins lots in the air, not the tallest, but I don't agree with that
White had already been on loan for 1.5 seasons before joining us and it was in the championship not the prem - and is the exception to the rule anyway. Cresswell has 1 senior appearance in a cup game!
"if you're good enough you are old enough" - couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, nothing at all to suggest cresswell is good enough - send him on loan to a team (noone outside of league one, league two would take him by the way so no idea why you think he's a prem player).
It's also very different giving opportunities to young attacking players to try and nick us a point when we're losing - there's nothing to lose. You don't just bring on a centre back who's never played a senior game before...
Noone has ever said Coops is the best cb in the world, he probably is well aware of his limitations. Top class centre backs aren't essential anyway, just look when leicester won with an old morgan and huth at the back.
We lose one game and you're like let's get rid! Get a grip.

Not disheartened at all by that performance. Ok some sloppy passing and mediocre defending in the 1st half leading to a couple of soft goals but boy what a 2nd half comeback. The shear determination, intensity, non-stop running and never say die attitude of our players was awesome and an absolute joy to watch. Everton were in danger of being swamped at times and could barely cope with the onslaught.
In summation imo we definitely deserved something out of that game, if not 3 points then at least a draw.

We are talking specifically about the defending so far this season - nobody is slagging off the whole team performance here, or what has been achieved through being mid table. Some people on here need to get a grip and understand what is being debated ! Some of the defensiveness borders on paranoia !danhirons wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 7:23 am Its our first season back in the prem ffs! Let's be EXTREMELY happy being a mid PL side at best!

We have conceded the second highest number of goals of any PL side - 38 which is 1.8 goals a game. even the blunts at rock bottom have conceded 3 fewer goals. Why do some people think that debating obvious defensive frailities is ' slagging off the whole team ' ?
You would think that people are calling for half the team to be replaced !

So debating the defensive capabilities of one player is ' slagging off our players ' ? Many people on here have already expressed doubt that Cooper is a PL defender, and they are fully entitled to have their opinion.
When Harry stated that ' I've lost count of the number of goals that could have been prevented by having defenders on the post ' is that doom mongering and slagging off the whole team ? Or does it mean that we could win games like yesterday's if we can find a way of defending more effectively ?
Why don't we just say that all is perfect, there's nothing to discuss and debate and close this forum ?

Re: Leeds United v Everton Match Thread - Bamford & Raphinha Start
Long time since Everton were a top level powerhouse...I think we're on a par, outplayed them again last night for the most part, they're the ones that shut up shop. They had a good start but they're a mid table team like us and they've had 20 plus years of premier money to get better...Anonymous wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 11:26 pm Agreed. My main take from that game is that we're looking more confident, and dominating for large periods, against clubs we probably shouldn't be anywhere near. I'm starting to expect the win in each game, like I did in the championship, with mostly the same team. It's fantastic to see.
If I were an Everton fan that performance would have worried me...Brighton and Newcastle were better against us recently

Be careful Cumbriarents - you are in danger here of being labelled a negative influence who is ' slagging off the whole team ' for simply having an opinion about one player....Cumbriarents wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 9:19 am That's probably why be brought big Kock and Llorente in, just a shame both are fecked at the min.
