A little better then after a week of aggravation & stress mate.hector wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 8:14 am Update.....
Well my caddy arrived yesterday, so plugged in my old hdd and................
nowt, not a dicky bird, no sign of the hdd being there..
So..... I then decided I had nowt to loose, so dredging my old C&G memories for computer maint that I did many moons ago, I decided to bite the bullet and dismantle the hdd itself...
upon opening it, the reading arm was stuck halfway across the disk, so I carefully turned the centre screw anti-clockwise and at the same time pulled the arm back to it's resting position. I then put it all back together again, and hey presto... there was the disk.... Many errors on it, but just about readable..
So I spent all day yesterday, running repair programs and slowly retrieving my data.... The main stuff being the last 8 years business accounts, and work files....
Quite a few of the music etc files are corrupted, so I now have several albums with tracks missing...... but things are not as bad as they seemed last week.
