That's why I didn't agree with Jansson being sold - one of several reasons. We lost his dominance in the air at set pieces which has hampered us ever since, and we lost his ability to score goals at the other end. We didn't even have the quality of set pieces that we have now when Jansson was thundering in headers ( Phillips has never been that good at set piece delivery ) so very likely with Raphinha he would now be scoring a goal every other game from set pieces.YorkshireSquare wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 11:56 pm Our defenders generally should, very weak at attacking set pieces

We also got promoted without a hitch without him, mate. What makes you think he will be any more capable of cutting it at Premier League level than anyone we have now? What are you basing this 'very likely' assessment on exactly, how can you back that up definitively?CHAPELALLMAN wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 8:56 am That's why I didn't agree with Jansson being sold - one of several reasons. There's also the fact that we have better CBs, they're just not fit at this moment. Just have a bit of patience, there's absolutely no reason to go pining after players we had when we were a de-facto worse team than we are right now.

Well I'm not sure how you can say that Llorente is a better CB when he has barely played for us yet - we all hope that he's a better player, but the fact is that we just don't know. There's also a strong risk that he may be a perennial crock given his record before he came to the club, and based on what has happened since. I'm 100% sure we would have achieved the same result last year with Jansson in the team. Also, Jansson is a right footed CB - right now we have two left footers with Struijk and Cooper. We have the second worse defensive record in the PL right now - that's a fact. I would love to see Struijk and Jansson play together as CBs.mothbanquet wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 9:15 am We also got promoted without a hitch without him, mate. Quite simply I'm sure that Jansson would have buried one or even two of the headers which Cooper missed yesterday. Don't forget too that Bielsa actually named Jansson as our best player one season - the only time he has ever done that since MB came to the club. I have no idea why you have such a low opinion of him or why you think that a temporary loan player solved the problem caused by selling him.

True, although I was only looking at the starting XI.

Once we have won the games we need to stay up I would like to see a few of the U23s given some game time, which will help in the assessment of what we need in the summer when it comes to clearing out and upgrading on the players mentioned in your list.

Even 1st half I thought but we were definitely the better team 2nd half. Certainly didn’t deserve to lose that game, I would have been reasonably suited with a draw but based on the 2nd half performance I thought we edged it and probably deserved to win.
Very unlucky with their goal but we are Leeds and we never seem to get the rub of the green from Lady Luck do we?
Bamford looked offside in real time and had there been no VAR or television stills to refer to I don’t think there would have been too many complaints, it never looked that close in real time. Shame really because he didn’t half finish it well, it would have been a cracking goal.
On the Roberts debate - to me there’s a lot of work rate from him, a lot of huff and puff but very little end product. As others have said he flatters to deceive, shows some nice skills, footwork, dribbling etc. but more often than not to no effect. Every time he’s played it’s been the same except for that one game against Hull when he played as a striker. I wonder if that is his best position, perhaps a Championship level striker is his level.

The sad thing is it is Struijk who will be dropped in favour of Llorente, when it should be Cooper.

I think Llorente ( right footed ) and Struijk ( left footed ) might be a great combination if Llorente can stay fit. If he can't stay fit then we will just end up with an unsettled back line like we have had this season, so it will be back to the drawing board.

same with Cooper isn't it. Struijk missed 3 attacking headers in a game and you read he is young and learning . Cooper misses 2 and he is back to being league one Liam. defensively he was sound last night and that is his job

As regards to time wasteing in the modern yes we all hate it.But if people can cast their minds back when Leeds were the masters of it in fact would go to say think we started it.As for the goal if Ayling has used his brain and took Traore out just before he started his run inside the chance would have gone.I know it,s not in a sporting way but when needs must do it.

Agree with this. Certain of our players are judged more by their past than their current performances. Bamford was a case in point. Was said on here many times that he would never make the Premiership standard. Cooper, Ayling, Harrison, Dallas, Shackleton and Klich lately, have all been suggested as offload candidates at the end of the season, following an off game or two. There's not a team in the Premiership in which every player performs to their 100% max every game,
