The new champions league format ...?

Post by Smudge3920 »

How is this NOT benefitting those that wanted to break away and form a super league...? All the Big 6 will now end up in the Champions league...Boggles the mind........

At least it prioratises league position first, which the ESL would not have.

And would the likes of Spurs and Arsenal have a high enough 'coefficient' by the time the new format starts if they dont qualify for the Champions League this season. Could easily see Leicester taking their place by then.

Agreed but the prem will have 7 teams in the comp, given the rules of entry...so it will be hard to break the 6 up.

10 league stage games, if top 8 then 5 more in the kockouts.

If you finish outside the top 8 you play 2 more play-off games.

Maybe the fans should unite again with the players and coaches?

Why cant we change the formats in the domestic comps?...(FA & league cups become 2 legs)...If countries concentrated on their own domestic leagues, by going 2 legs... and the Champions league and others became straight knockout with the Champions and runners up of domestic leagues...that would give the countries fans more games to attend cut the travel down (expense), and make the champions league more credible as a knockout with the champions of the various countries....plus more revenue for the lower leagues.

Because.....Greed

The powers that be don't care about fans travel expenses or, the lower leagues. They only care about lining their own pockets

At least it's within current football structures . Give it a chance and see how it works . I did like the old European cup format , easy and it worked , champions only ......win and you carry on , lose and out .
They have introduced another euro competition too , a third............
Cup winners cup , anyone ?
