Re: Chelsea Thread
Mentioned earlier in the season I would love Leeds to sign N'Golo Kante if we could afford him, the Frenchman's performance last night enhanced my thoughts of him, absolutely magnificent.
Also BT pundits negativity with Christensen when he replaced the injured Silva, have they not seen the top Danish CB play previously? he's as cool as a cucumber.

Re: Chelsea Thread
Completely agree... the old set up was was by far much better and better balancedCjay wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 11:52 am Not fussed that Chelsea won and its amusing that it makes Frank look more inept but officially now Chelsea are the best side in Europe.
They plainly arent.
Does anyone else think this highlights a fundamental issue with the Champions League format?
Champions League , the clue is in the title.
Only league Champions should be in it, something Chelsea havent been for a good few years.
For me the Champions League should only contains league winners.
Then the Europa League would be for say the next 3 or 4 teams.
By letting so many teams into the Champions league it dilutes the meaning imo.
European cup for Domestic league champions
Cup winners cup for domestic trophy winners
Fairs/Eufa Cup for 2nd, 3rd & 4th place league finishes
Champions league just eptimomises the thought process of those who support a Champions Super league...

Also the greed of EUFA - more teams = more paying fans, more TV revenue, more advertising revenue basically more doshSmudge3920 wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 3:00 pm Completely agree... the old set up was was by far much better and better balanced

Re: Chelsea Thread
Chelsea are ready to re-sign Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku this summer.
The Italian club are apparently prepared to listen to offers for the 28-year-old Belgian to ease their financial concerns.

On the subject of ' Fwank ' I seem to remember that at one point we wanted to sign him from West Ham....

Re: Chelsea Thread
The likes of Fwank & John terry had to be with one of the bigger London clubs, their off field attitudes and arrogance would not be tolerated by many clubs.

Thomas Tuchel will be given up to £200m to spend this summer.
A top striker a priority I suspect.

Re: Chelsea Thread
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has signed a contract extension until the summer of 2024.
What with their £200 million war chest that's Chelsea set-up for the next few seasons.
I wish they had retained Fwank now

Re: Chelsea Thread
They have got themselves a good manager and as you say add the war chest will take some stopping.
Have you noticed that the better managers are not those that have not been top players. Bielsa & Tuchel are obvious but add the likes of Moyes, Rodgers & even Dyche who get the best out of what they have.

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has completed his move to AC Milan for an undisclosed fee after three years at Stamford Bridge
He scored 11 goals in 31 appearances for European champions Chelsea last season but only made eight Premier League starts.
Giroud scored 39 goals in 119 appearances for the Blues in total, winning the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup.

Re: Chelsea Thread
I don't think he even got into double figures in terms of appearances before then loaned him out to WBA and then Everton, before then making the deal permanent with the Toffees for £28m in July 2014. They'd have saved themselves £70m+ if they'd just held on to him
