Film & TV Favourite/Recommended TV Documentary Shows

Post by White Riot »

Hi all,

I know we have threads dedicated to tv dramas and films, but I didn't find a specific one related to documentary series, so thought I would start one here.

I really enjoy watching documentary series and find they give a good contrast to dramas.

I'm just looking for you to state your favourite docuseries and what you're currently watching, or would recommend, and rate them from 0 to 10.

I'll start with one of my faves, Making A Murderer which I'd give a 10/10. A riveting show and a brilliant exposure of the American injustice system. A must watch. I really like crime documentaries.

This documentary about the white supremacist Clayton Bigsby is my favorite:

WARNING: Don't watch if you are easily offended.

Most inspired social commentary I have seen in a very long time.

Tough question, for me particularly anything geopolitical... like you I love documentaries so anything that can make you question or re evaluate your position on a subject, any subject.

I just watched Fall River, another American crime documentary, which is pretty good. I would give it an 8/10

I've just finished Last Chance U Basketball 🏀

There are also 5 other series of Last Chance U, dealing with junior college football in the US, really thrilling watch

Just started watching 'The Return : Life after Isis'. Film showing Shamima Begum and Hoda Muthana as they attempt to rebuild their lives after leaving their homes to join ISIS. Only watched a third so far
Not a fave or recommending, I just thought it might be interesting

Question for you Swannie...(and anyone else who maybe interested)...Do you think those that left the UK to support/fight for ISIS should have been allowed back home?

Cannot legislate stupidity Swannie... but as far as I am concerned all those so called converts, volunteers made their beds, and should lie in them....dont come crying for help when it all turns sour on them...

I watched that Hector and couldn't get away with it, I thought that old film The Last Good Friday was similar but much better.

I'm watching The Last Narc, a doc about the DEA in Mexico which is riveting but not for those of a nervous disposition

Seaspiracy is great if you like environmental docs.

Really opened my eyes to what crap is occurring that's trashing the planet.

Think it might fall in to the sit com category, it is good but it's typical Clarkson where everything seems scripted for maximum chaos

If you like crime/serial killer documentaries I would recommend, Nightstalker: The Hunt For A Serial Killer.

Gripping stuff from Netflix, but defo very gruesome and not for those of a nervous disposition
