Re: Patrick Bamford
Paddy is accepting of not being selected by Southgate, that does'nt mean he likes it. However he continues to show his class, with his demeanor and positive outlook... He has shown so many so often in the past they are wrong about him, IMO the snub by Southgate was the best thing that could happen and Paddy will have a banner year next year continuing to show those cynical sceptics they are wrong about him ...including the biggest one of all, our own Faaip.

Didn't realise Watkins had played that well tbh.. I take it this is just for striker?

Re: Patrick Bamford
Mike McGrath at The Telegraph reports that we are trying to get Bamford to sign a new contract but he is Spurs backup target striker and they may make a move.
Puts us in a very difficult position.
I love Paddy but i wouldn't go above £70k a week, Spurs would probably double that and he is out of contract next summer it seems

Re: Patrick Bamford
Surely Paddy is better off staying at Leeds rather than moving to Spurs unless he's going there for the money.
I'd be surprised if he left Leeds now.

It would leave little time to find a replacement as well and we'd be held to ransom .

A couple of years ago many would have been happy to read that another team had their eye on him

Rodrigo would be fine with an extended run as our striker, lest not forget how long it took Bamford to reach his peak for us.

I'd rather sell Bamford than Kalvin by the way if we needed funds to buy ...

Re: Patrick Bamford
I’d be amazed if he went. He’ll never again get the space and backing that he gets from Bielsa.
On the other hand, he’ll be 28 next month and this is the age to be stepping up in the money stakes within the game. He’s likely to get a wage that we’re just not going to be able to match for years to come.
It would be a blow to the current Leeds United project if he opts out. Rodrigo would certainly step in for him, but we’d be depending on Roberts and the U23’s for back up.

Re: Patrick Bamford
I think that may be the key factor. His value is at the highest it has ever been and this may well be his only chance to get a really big contract to set him up for the rest of his life. Whilst you would have thought he'd want to stay at Leeds and continue working with Bielsa if another club could double or treble his wages then you'd have to think he'd want to cash in.Boo Radley wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 4:24 pm I’d be amazed if he went. I would have to agree though that if we lost him then it would give Rodrigo the chance to step up in a more preferred position with Roberts as the back-up (or the youngsters). I would also expect us to bring in someone that has the capability to play out wide and up front.

I love him and would hate to see him leave. He is Leeds.....
Hopfully this is a hypothetical question, but ok, if it came to it how much is Patrick worth? What would you expect another club to pay, how much would you want?

Will be very surprised if Bamford doesn't sign a new deal,if he's being honest as a player, without Marcelo he was in the s**t.
Don't see him going to spurs to be backup either, guy will want to be a regular starter, he gets that currently at Leeds, genuinely think you aren't far away from having a squad that can challenge top 6, 2 top signings and you are there, the only thing is Marcelo doesn't like having a large squad, but he may have to think about that if you get into Europa league etc

Re: Patrick Bamford
My favourite player, but if Spurs offer to double his wages, he'd be mad not to take it.
Fans go on about loyalty, but fans are first to turn on players and managers when things go wrong. After scoring the goals that took Leeds up, and established the club as a force in the top flight, he's given incredible service for little cost.

Think he will stay with you mate good striker, but needs competition, very unlucky to not be picked to go to Euros.Mountain wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 9:45 pm My favourite player, but if Spurs offer to double his wages, he'd be mad not to take it.

Bielsa has done a good job with him to be honest.

Re: Patrick Bamford
Expect it is hypothetical unless he fancies the move?
But Southampton were expecting about £15mil for Ings who is a far more proven Premier league striker than Paddy (fortunately Villa came in and decided to pay much more much to Southamptons surprise). Ings was almost out of contract to so unfortunately I'd expect at most £20mil if we are lucky given how tight Levy is (the total opposite of Villa's owners who just overpay).
All depends on Paddy though I suppose.
