Re: Have we had a more difficult fixture list than last season?
I think so.
But comparing the same six fixtures last season we are 3 points down. Shoud really have been looking to get more from Newcastle and Burnley. A win will be really important to start moving up the table, and we have the fixtures in October to get some decent points on the board.

Definitely should have earned at least one victory at Burnley or Newcastle, (feeble finishing cost us) & the inability to defend against any decent forwards who runs at our defenders.
Shown a bit more nous vs the hammers & we'd have had another point on the board.
Tough season imminent !

Blow away any points vs Watford & the writing will be on the wall.
We must win these type of games against potential relegation cardidates.

As we speak there are 4pts between 18th and 11th place. We will really know how we are doing after the next 4 games.

The fixtures don't really matter, it's the lack of depth in the squad and MB's insistence on using pathetic footballers like cooper & roberts, said it many times, if he dosen't change , it will be his and the clubs downfall.
He's done tremendous work so far, he's now unravelling it all by his "my way or no way " attitude.
It don't take a great coach to see where we're going wrong.

Who do you suggest he played instead of Cooper yesterday?

This time last season, we were on ten points, and scoring for fun.YorkshireSquare wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 10:17 am I think so.

Very encourage by our performance yesterday, its the first time this season (including pre season) that the lads have put a proper shift in!
Re: Have we had a more difficult fixture list than last season?
I agree on yesterday as we had no choice, but now Struijk is back, he must be benched.YorkshireSquare wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 11:00 am Who do you suggest he played instead of Cooper yesterday?

Tend to agree. We cant keep hoping that Burnley and Newcastle will keep playing poorly and we'll draw our way out of safety

Cooper has too many weaknesses to be a mainstay centre back

Ranking the CB and their best side
Llorente R
Struijk L
Koch R
Cresswell L
Phillips R
Cooper L
Ayling R
When everyone is fit we have a glut of quality CB's and Hjelde was on the bench and he may be the best young CB yet, plus I think Koch is top quality...

Re: Have we had a more difficult fixture list than last season?
Technically it looks more difficult . The practical problem is we are not playing anywhere like as well.
Any fixtures in this league are problematic if you collectively off your game.

Re: Have we had a more difficult fixture list than last season?
I possibly agree with your list but no matter how high you rank some of the players, they are no good to us sitting on the bench with injuries a lot of the time. In reality you end up with Struik and Cresswell as our 2 best CBs.

Injuries are unfortunate but it's usually cyclical and no fault of the player

I'd rather start with 10 men, thats how much I rate cooper, also Roberts, both are well above their level, only my opinion like.YorkshireSquare wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 11:00 am Who do you suggest he played instead of Cooper yesterday?
You can't help with injuries, but, it's our own fault for not having the squad.
If I had my way I would have had a CM & CF in t' summer, but what do I know ? Maybe we would be better off getting 10 wingers !
For me , when fit, if fit, Llorente & Koch / Struyik

Cooper at least 3rd in the CB pecking order for me when everyone is fit, but they ain't so he plays. We don't really have a choice.
Definitely needed a CM in summer, everyone knew that and we are paying the price now.
