Re: Spurs v Leeds Utd Match Thread - Gelhardt in for Rodrigo
You rarely give Leeds any praise, Scooby
I will allways give the mighty Leeds Credit where Credit is due 64. But cant keep defending a team that's made up of over half championship players not good enough for the Premier league the blame lies on the owners and a fair bit on the manager. The owners love a manager that says he's happy with a small squad which have gone backwards in evolution this season. We got rid of 2 left backs and bought an inferior left back in firpo. Daniel James was a panic buy. We had all season to buy players and for whatever reason it didn't happen. So this team unfortunately which punched way above their weights la's year ain't getting out of the bottom 3 this season. Even our owner came out to say it will be difficult to stay in the Premier league this season allready waving the white flag. So I will Credit where Credit is due and at the moment it ain't getting any credit.

Yeah, a large portion of humble pie for me too BGBGwhite wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 8:29 pm Just a mention for Forshaw. Thought he had another solid game and came very close to scoring with a fantastic shot. No one would think he'd been out for 2 years. I'm being made to eat humble pie and I hold my hands up, well done AF. ...put it in the onion bag next time ,,

The lad has done fantastic to make it back, I really hope he can avoid any injuries. What a rocket of a shot, like Lorimer in his heyday, very unlucky with that.

Understandable. It seems he's become a starter already due to his performances and he does Shaw up the middle ....,1964white wrote: Forshaw was excellent.
Didn't help our game when he was subbed due to tired legs.

Yes, despite the loss and dropping points when in front, I’m quite positive for the upcoming games.White Riot wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 8:20 pm Cheers Finn![]()
Agree with your points. I would also say that we are really close to hitting our straps again and the wins will come soon
Getting our injured players back is also gonna be key as the competition for places will spur them all on.
Good times coming soon
Even if we don’t pick up points against the better teams I’m confident we can do the business against ten or eleven others.

You mean Lorimer but in slow motion surely. Still a cracking shot though and it's refreshing to see us taking these shots on . We were very critical on here regarding this last season but at least we're buying a raffle ticket nowadays.White Riot wrote: Yeah, a large portion of humble pie for me too BG![]()

Just me who thought Meslier was at fault for the first? If he doesn't come charging out of goal, they don't score.

Agreed.Cjay wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 8:27 pm Disagree mate.
Dropping 1 or 2 point from winning positions is unlucky.
10 before Christmas is a trend.
Their 2nd half deserved the win imo.
Hit the post 2 or 3 times, Kane had a 1v1.
We faded, that isn't unlucky, the goal may be unlucky but if we had played 2nd half like Spurs did and not won we would be furious

Yeah, I don't like whining, Burnley and Scum are always at it, as was Coady for Wolves.
On the flip side, I'm not into all this chivalrous behaviour from MB.
I want to see our players in the ref's ear, politely, but just as much as the opposition do. Provides a bit of balance in the ref's mind, rather than him just listening to some cnut like Ashley Barnes all day.
KP does this well, but they all need to do it.

Yeah, exactly mate, it's worth a pop, keeps the opposition guessing if nowt else, rather than just trying to walk the ball in all match.

Agreed.
I've only just seen the game, I watched it not knowing the score.
Very good first half, totally bossed it but it reminded me so much of the West Hame game. As soon as they equalised panic set it and it looked like there would only be one winner, albeit a lucky deflection.
Their first goal was a scuffed shot as well.
On the plus side, Dan James had his best game for us and Joffy worked his socks off and tested Lloris a couple of times as well.
Kalvin totally bossed Kane as well.
Absolutely gutted to have lost but considering who was missing, it was a decent performance.

That’s the point though, only fifteen and a half months ago we were a Championship team and they all can’t be replaced for two reasons:Scoobychief wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 8:33 pm But cant keep defending a team that's made up of over half championship players not good enough for the Premier league
1 Financial Fair Play means we can’t do a Ridsdale
2 Even if we could, we don’t have the money yet or the means to get it.

If you come off the line then you must get the ball or its a fault for me.
Not a massive error but a costly one.

Difficult to out sing 60,000 Spurs fans v our 3,000 fans in a massive groundWhite Riot wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 8:51 pm Cheers Leon![]()
How was the atmosphere at New White Hart Lane?
Conte is very animated, he knows how to rouse his players and the crowd. Top coach.
Lovely posh stadium, as much as I love our home ground it makes ER looked dated

Encouraging performances dont keep you in the league though
At what point do we stop patting the team on the back for nearly being good enough? Or do we keep using our injury problems as an excuse?
Its nearly December and we are 17th with the same amount of wins as Norwich who most fans in this league consider a joke team.
You know who else patted their team on the back for nearly matches a lot last season and said things like "it will be ok when injuries subside" . . . Sheffield United.
Relegated teams always bemoan injuries and bad luck.
You build a squad to deal with injuries, if you cant then you havent built a good squad, that is your fault. The club and Bielsa choose to go with a small squad, they decided last summer to not strengthen the depth even though every season under Bielsa has brought bad injury problems.
If you choose to run with a small squad then you cant use injuries as an excuse since the lack of depth was a conscious decision.

I thought the same tbh SG90. He had to come out initially, but he kept coming out when the angle was narrowing and the threat from there was diminishing. He was only a step or two off reaching the shot that went in.
Another case of maximum punishment for a minor error.

So it's not the players fault? They seem to be the ones who get 'cr*p, sh*t, useless, pathetic players thrown at them from various quarters...Cjay wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 11:04 pm Encouraging performances dont keep you in the league though
