Would be great if we had another striker to play. Instead we're using James a winger, as a lone striker, with minimal effect. Failing that we have Roberts and Rodrigo, which hardly inspires confidence. Gelhardt, has much more about his game, but clearly MB doesn't seem overly convinced.

We need to move on from MB and not drag it out. Shake hands and plan the next chapter as soon as the final whistle of the season blows.

Sentiment aside, it's about results and our results have been poor at best. I don't have much faith in MB turning this around. I just hope other sides are even worse than us.

He's actually one of them from that site, a pure wind up merchant and a troll. You can tell from the calibre of his posts, not sure why he's been allowed on here.

MB Post Manure

Post by Cjay »

Bielsa's here - Reaction? Pride and disappointment?

The effort the team made you can evaluate. The relationship between what is produced and what you get is enormous in football

Ease of their first two goals?

Evidently, we have conceded a lot of goals. The amount of goals conceded is not linked to individualities defensively. It's difficult for us to prevent the opponent from creating danger. To form a more compact block is not simple. The fundamental problems are in the recovery of the ball in the middle of the pitch. We had to be without Phillips, who's a DM, after without Koch, another DM, and after without Pascal, another DM. In the second half we had to put Pascal back in the defensive line. Due to the absence of three players who can do that function, the composition of the midfield does not have a defensive proffer. That had an influence in the defensive behaviour of the team today. That also is not an explanation because we have conceded 50 goals in the league. I am just commenting on the game today.

Raphinha?

I chose to form the attack with other players. A decision like that can happen throughout the season.

Fight in your team needed?

Yes, I did.

Confidence for the weeks ahead?

To not fight would be a sign that is worrying. To fight is a starting point. Not the only thing.

Liked a fourth sub?

No, in the second half our performance was better than in the first. I am advising the individuals. I did not observe a player who would have deserved to come off the pitch. That does not mean having a fourth change is not favourable. I understand the main reason for him coming is the cut, not the knock, because he could not contain the blood.

Koch?

He had a cut in his head and what excludes him is the cut. If the cut is the most significant thing then the knock he received, I acted in accordance to that.

What qualities beyond fight are needed to stay up?

The fight is an element of the game. You know fighting is not the only thing. The game has numerous components. The fight indicates commitment. It's indispensable to construct a performance. Other elements complete this.

Atmosphere - missiles - condemn that behaviour?

Any excess beyond sporting should not be approved. I can't evaluate what you spoke about because I did not see it.

At 2-2 the match was in the balance, did you feel chaos was playing into Leeds' hands - were you disappointed with the lack of control?

No, the game didn't become chaotic in my point of view. We stopped being in charge of the game, and the product of not being in charge of the game, we lost the dominance of the ball. In the moment the team composed itself, we missed a very clear chance to make it 3-2 and in the response of that play they went down the other end and scored. Either way the general transmit of the game, they missed very few chances and they were very efficient. And we were less efficient. And the difference comes through them. We had seven or eight chances to score a goal just like the opponent but they scored in a higher proportion and us not in the same proportion.

What concerns me is that MB doesn't seem to realise that the system is a huge issue in our defensive problems.

Something that every pundit is highlighting and then showing clips to prove. I know some.of our fans get uppity if pundits highlight things but they all say the same thing and they all can't be wrong.

Injuries haven't helped but he seems totally oblivious to the system issue.

Even his comment about the game not becoming chaotic is wrong, he just doesn't see the system issue at all.

Sorry Cjay, but he’s right about DM.
Phillips plays it best
Struijk second , thought not as good on the ball
Koch third, he can do it well but only if he’s disciplined. Sometimes he gets dragged out of position, today he was disciplined and the game was even - unfortunately, the injury put paid to that.

Injuries haven't helped Finn no question.

But every pundit highlights numerous system issues every game.

There is a fundamental problem with the system that can't be ignored.

Every pundit isn't wrong.

Injuries are an issue absolutely but it is deeper than that I think.

Bielsa doesn't think the system is flawed in any way (remember he once said if he had a team of robots he would never lose). Would you say that is true yourself? Absolutely no flaw in the system at all?

But again it is the asusmption that playing a different way with the same groups of better would produce a better result.

Like it or not the game hinged on one minute of play - we should have gone 3-2 up and then a few seconds later 3-2 down. We got back into the game playing 'our way.'

Unfortunately today, as Bielsa points out, MU were fairly clinical. Contrast that to recent matches where they got draws when only scoring 1 goal in games despite having 20+ chances.

It may not mate and it doesn't help that we have built a totally one dimensional squad (that doesn't reflect well on Bielsa either).

But I wish he would acknowledge it.

He is always blaming himself but he never ever ever blames the system itself.

It is a problem and daft as it seems I would like him to acknowledge it (even if he changes nothing which he wouldn't) just so we know he sees it.

We may get back into games our way but then you can argue we are having to get back into games so often because of our way.

It works both ways.

You really don't need to be fairly clinical when you're playing against this Leeds side with chances aplenty for the opposition. The worrying apsect is that hammerings are now being accepted as the norm or only losing by 2 is seen as a positive. We are a side in decline and Bielsa applying same methodology is taking us closer to the drop. I would love us to try a different way of playing or adapt accordingly to each game, but it's not Bielsa's way and it's proving to be his undoing.
