Re: Jesse Marsch- RUMOUR
Our only prayer post Bert is Norwich/Watford and Brentford are worse than us, and the same if he stays and the injured 3 don't return asap.

Re: Jesse Marsch- RUMOUR
Massive gamble. I am not so worried about his style, more so his knowledge of the premiership. This could all turn into a dogs dinner very quickly.
Personally, if it was down to me I would have gone for an experienced interim with a view to making a long term appointment at the end of the season. Big Sam would be a bridge to far but Benetiz would be worth a shout. Everton was never likely to have worked out for him based on his history.
I am worried that the board never considered a contingency and sounded out options if the seemingly unimaginable occurred as it has now done.

Perhaps the right person to have taken over in the summer. But at this moment in time ?????

Re: Jesse Marsch- RUMOUR
I know Jack about this guy, from reading, he might be our best hope with how the players are groomed.
I'm not holding my breath though and will forever blame the gormless Yanks for interfering re Bert.
My biggest wish now is that someone somehow manages to save up and that one day we see Bert again at Elland Road, i know, i'm in dreamland.

Re: Jesse Marsch- RUMOUR
American coach Jesse Marsch, an advocate of Bielsa's style and admired by Leeds director of football Victor Orta, seems to be the front runner although even this is a gamble so late in the season.
Marsch won admirers at Red Bull Salzburg, where he won two Austrian titles and two domestic cups, but he failed in his last job at RB Leipzig, where he was sacked after less than six months.
He is not a man well versed in the tensions and twists of a Premier League relegation struggle so Leeds will hope, should they appoint him, that he is up to speed immediately.
Best of luck ya feckin big Jesse, i hope you can bounce us back up if tha fails.

Just hope this is not another Fergie>Moyes scenario.

It's always gonna be tough whoever followed Bielsa.
Just hope he can keep us up and if not you know folk will start saying if we kept Bielsa we'd still be in the PL. etc etc

Strange how everyone's written him off already before he's even joined.

Yes and if we stay up it will be "Bielsa would've done too".Johnboy1965 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 12:47 pm It's always gonna be tough whoever followed Bielsa.

Re: Jesse Marsch- RUMOUR
Its a gamble either way but one that the board felt was necessary given the recent performances . If we stay up it was the right decision and ultimately that's what this and every season is about for the time being. If we go down it will be classed as a right howler of a decision but we'll never know if Bielsa would've kept us up. Dambed if they do dambed if they don't scenario. Imo it needed to happen, it is clear the players confidence is shot and the faith in Bielsa's system had worn very thin at least and once that happens there's no going back. Last summer was the time to leave. He'd done his job so he should've left on the high that was.
Now it's time for a change to drag any last effort out of our lads but for god's sake if Leeds stay up we desperately need investment in the squad otherwise I guess we'll be having the same discussion in another 12 months.
Onwards & upwards with Marsch soccer-ball !!

He’s not got much time to get his ways across but good luck to him.
Be interesting to see his first line up. I’m guessing it may differ to the one we saw yesterday.

I wonder if he'll have done as much homework on Leicester as Bert, hopefully Bert's had a word already and left his stuff in the top drawer.

Re: Jesse Marsch- RUMOUR
I don't think the team will change ,he hasn't much to chose from! The players overall are as good if not better than most teams out of the top six,its the way we play that will change and hopefully will improve our position . It's a gamble, before this disaster of a season I always felt safe with MB at the helm it's sad him going in this way but something had to be done however 12 games is not long .

I've never heard of this Jesse character but then I'd never heard of MB either ? Wasn't MB's CV a bit dodgy before he came to us ?

Re: Jesse Marsch- RUMOUR
I have been reading about Jesse, reading what his previous clubs think of him.
It isn't great news.
Even at Salzburg he wasn't particularly popular with the fans.
Both Red Bull fans said he was tactically inflexible and couldn't organise a defence.
His only success was at a club far richer than any of the rivals in the league and full of wonder kids provided by the global scout network.
He is Orta's mate apparently.
