I think it was a penalty as well. The defender kicked his foot , is that not a penalty these days ?

Re: Marsch post Leicester
He's abviously still trying to work out his best starting 11, then which subs to bring on.
Weirdly he brought on roberts, he must kick-arse in training, I honestly think he thought, well , he was the go to man for Bielsa , I don't want to upset the fans , I think he was trying too hard not to disappoint too quickly, he will soon learn.

Re: Marsch post Leicester
The reason given for bringing Roberts on instead of Bamford is just bizarre. Roberts came on after 76 minutes. Even with the additional 4 minutes of injury time (likely a couple of those minutes were due to Robert's injury) you are talking about a maximum of 18 minutes. I've never heard that a player can only do 10 minutes before that just doesn't make sense at all. If that was the case then I'd have waited a few minutes and brought Bamford on rather than bring Roberts on when he did.Cjay wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 3:49 pm Roberts over Bamford?
Patrick was maximum 10 minutes so I wanted to get him on the pitch ASAP, but needed a change before that 10-minute mark. Put Tyler on and then he has a weird hamstring strain. Playing a man down. Patrick progressing. Sharper and sharper.
We thought Rodrigo was a penalty but you know, I don't confess to be a referee, thankfull
The non-penalty - if that happens anywhere else on the pitch it is a free kick. Yes it wasn't a heavy kick but it was a kick, didn't get the ball, got nowhere near the ball and kicked the player. It should be a penalty.

Think Bamford was a get fans onside move tbh.weasel wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 5:10 pm The reason given for bringing Roberts on instead of Bamford is just bizarre. Roberts came on after 76 minutes. As you say whose ever heard of a player only being able to manage 10 minutes?
That means they aren't fit.
Marsch did say however that we have quite a few players who aren't in great shape (Forshaw for one).so I don't think he is working with a squad in particularly good shape unfortunately.
Overworked and carrying many injuries by the sound of it.

I had been hoping that Forshaw had not been picked for tactical reasons. He seems a decent guy but is not a premier league class midfielder. Comes accross as similar to a kid playing football just chasing it wherever it goes.Cjay wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 5:19 pm Think Bamford was a get fans onside move tbh.

I wouldn't worry too much about the shape of the squad. Players will always have slight injuries at this point of the season. It's knowing how to play with them and whether you can play with the pain/discomfort without it significantly affecting your play.
Just hoping we aren't seeing Heckingbottom the 2nd. Remember him coming in and saying the players weren't fit. Or Warnock the 2nd comign in and fans immediately saying how he had tightened up the 'leaky defence' that we had with Grayson. Was it his 3rd game in charge where we conceded 7 at home to Forest?
I like Marsch, or more I like the way he wants to play. Every manager can say they want to play that way though. So far for me it has been a case of much the same. Creating more chances than the opposition, not taking them, not getting any luck with refereeing decisions and still picking up injuries. Even the subs were the same, I had him down for taking Rodrigo off around an hour for Gelhardt. Then like Bielsa making the bizarre decision to bring Forshaw on when we are behind and then bringing Roberts on.
Deja vu all over again!

Fully agree on Forshaw, if you watch him his performances rarely amount to anything of substance, no goals, no assists, passes are usually safe and forward and back, he runs a lot though which appeals to managers like Marsch and Bielsa.weasel wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 5:29 pm I had been hoping that Forshaw had not been picked for tactical reasons. It is more than I have long suspected Bielsa hasn't managed the squad well. Our fans are understandably protective of him but I've long since suspected the squad was overtrained and overused hence the injuries and this is basically what Marsch said.
Was disappointed with the subs, Gelhardt aside (although felt he looked as rusty as a player whose had very little match practice in recent months)
Hoped to see Bate and Summerville and Cresswell,.did feel Marsch played it a bit safe today selection wise but maybe thay will change in the coming games.
If Forshaw wasn't fully fit then use Bate.
Why not give Cresswell a shot etc.
But he has only had a few days to get to know the squad so willing to cut him some slack.
Early days and I do to worry this is a one off and whatnot but I I enjoy seeing us defend better today, it was nice to look organised and to not see that ludicrous man to man system.

Surprised, as I understood Marsch like very intense and hard training too.
Where does he say that, didn't jump out in the OP.
I'd like him to drop the huddle. Next they'll be putting hands in like an NBA team.

.
A sign of squad togetherness is back.
Not the case where certain players have walked straight down the tunnel at the final whistle, Rodrigo in particular.
Us fans deserve some appreciation & support from the players too!

Massive test and comparison coming up V Aston Villa.
Bert v John Wayne after we came back from 3-1 down for Villa to be clinging on after Berts genius and pundits saying it was the ' game of the season '
I'm hoping that John Wayne has more ammo in the form of PB, so let's see what he can do, i'll give my honest opinion again as always.

Re: Marsch post Leicester
Which other players 64 - I’d be genuinely interested to know.
Ok they were probably very upset that they’d lost a match that they deserved to win but even so, to not show appreciation to the travelling support, who, as always, sung their hearts out for the whole match, to me, is the epitome of arrogance and ignorance and is inexcusable.

I don't mind the 'huddle' shows togetherness, we are all in this together to the bitter end, it could go reet down t' wire, final day syndrome, hope to god we get out of it before the 22nd May.
It's still possible, JM now needs to find his best starting 11 and stick with it, everyones pushing for bamford to get back, he was never prolific, maybe just his presence will up the anti !! I would give JG a good run, drop RM and put DJ on the wing and give Raph a free role.
The lack of midfield is showing now, well, in fairness it has all season, but we desperately need someone to step up and lead with a clear head , not 100 miles an hour frantic football.
Also a clear leader in defense, someone to lead, to shout, to cajole the rest, to keep calm not panic, to be able to see whats around them and not panic.
The next game is massive.

Strange about Bamford. Only fit for 10 minutes?
If a player is not fit, he shouldn't be on the bench at all.
Anyway, time will tell.

Re: Marsch post Leicester
Yeah not a fan it seemed a bit forced, something discussed beforehand which makes I really cringe.
Definitely wasnt spur of the moment.
He said it in his opening press conference.
I can only tell you that Monday we met with the medical team and they introduced a whole myriad of injury situations to me. There's been a little bit of a cycle here where guys have been fighting through injuries and often playing with injuries and it means they've sometimes picked up other injuries and put themselves more in danger of missing minutes. What I need to do is help guys recover as quickly as possible but not overload or endanger them. To put them in situations to further be in danger and then make sure that we have a long term vision in place for what that's going to mean. I said this before, it's 12 games, it's not three games or four games, and I know that we need points but we need to make sure we're getting stronger as we move along, not weaker. On that note, Patrick Bamford was in training today, Kalvin [Phillips] and Liam [Cooper] are both making progress but they won't be ready for the weekend, but they're on the pitch, they're working every day. They're getting closer and closer to being in team training. Then we have a bunch of other guys who have missed a little bit of training this week and we're trying to evaluate what are the risk and rewards of all the different players and how many minutes are appropriate for them to perform on Saturday
I know our fans are very protective of Bielsa but the idea that he has managed the squad badly isn't a surprise at all tbh.
