Not sure how you calculate statistics, but I make it in the 6 games under Marsch it's 8 goals conceded and 9 scored, Bielsa's last 6 games ; 21 goals conceded, 5 scored - 10 points scored by Marsch, 1 point by Bielsa. Apart from this, they are pretty similar....weasel wrote: ↑Sat Apr 09, 2022 7:50 pm Interestingly as all the narrative, especially in the media, is about how results have transformed since JM came in is that in the 6 fixtures since JM came in that the output is generally about the same.
Result against our last 6 opponents - Leicester, Villa, Norwich, Wolves, Southampton and Watford
Under Bielsa our record was 2 wins 3 draws 1 defeat. Goals for 8 goals againt 7. So 9 points and +1 gd
Under Marsch our record is 3 wins, 1 draw, 2 defeats. Goals for 9, goals against 8. So points 10 and +1gd.
It is interesting that the general opinion is that we look better defensively, yet have conceded more goals under Marsch and whilst results have picked up markedly from what they were it suggests that the results are more influenced by the quality of opposition we have played rather than a specific up turn in performances.
I would say our performances against Norwich and Southampton were better under Marsch. Against Villa and Watford they were betteer under Bielsa (albiet the Watford scoreline was more flattering today) and the Leicester and Wolvers performance were probably about even (Wolves being a bit Jekyll and Hyde under JM).
Not having a dig at JM before people construe it that way as he has done very well and the signs are hopeful/promising and his big test is yet to come when his style of play completely takes over and he gets his own players in just thought the comparisons were interesting and not as black and white as a lot of people, especially the media, portray.
And don't say it is due to Marsch playing inferior opposition when Bielsa managed to lose 3-0 to Everton and 0-1 to the barcodes.
It's quite amusing how some people contort facts in order to try and defend the indefensible.
