Re: Songs that you LOATHE
I agree about the Eagles, I find them pretty run of the mill (but each to their own).
Anything by Elton John, Eminem (annoying little twat), Nickleback, Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas and boy bands.

Sweet Home Alabama and Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd will both always cause me to vomit.

It hasn't stood the test of time for me personally. Staduium Rock ie, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith and all the other soft rock stuff you get on them repeated compilations. It may be that when i was a teanager i played them all to death but it just sounds so hollow to me these days.

My wife has a much more "commercial pop" taste than I do. I can stand most things but when "Big Ship" by Cliff Richard comes on her play list I just want to pick her phone up and throw it against the wall.

I love some of UB40's early stuff, 1 in 10, Food for Thought, Sing Our Own Song, even up to Rat in Mi Kitchen. I really hate their covers and pretty much anything after the mid 80s.Clacton White wrote: ↑Mon Apr 11, 2022 8:24 am Anything by UB40 , made a career out if destroying other people's songs , the worst 2 bands in the world EVER are UB40 imo .

The early stuff is decent, Tyler, One in Ten, The Pillow, Buzz Feeling. Not a great fan of the covers though.

My wife and a friend were in a chemist's in New York one evening back in the early 1970's when they spied Neil Diamond. My wife's friend approached him and said, "You're Neil Diamond, aren't you?"
Neil smiled, puffed out his chest a bit, and said, "Yes I am,"
Said the friend: "You stink."
Then she turned around and walked away.

Good shout on THAT one, SG !
It was on my list, but i hadn't got around to mentioning yet.
An absolute anger inducer of a song.
And again, local commercial radio stations play it on a daily basis, despite the fact it was released over 20 years ago.
These songs torment working class people on a daily basis, because there is no escape from the radio station whilst you're at work.
It's audio chinese water torture.

Re: Songs that you LOATHE
THIS unholy noise gets played at least 3 times per workshift by giggly over-happy radio presenters on local radio.
They present it as a song that is beloved to all hearts.
And that may well be true for people of a certain mindset or of a certain demographic.
I can only speak for myself ,But When this twat of a song pops up on the radio at SIX O CLOCK in the morning, when you have six 40' foot long trailers to unload, it causes my anger to go through the bloody roof
A dreadful song, an absolute unholy mess of a song. A song that torments people.

Re: Songs that you LOATHE
Never been a fan of those late 70s/early 80s bands, the likes of Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, etc did nothing for me then & never have, second rate rock in comparison to early 70's rock imo!Leeds1000 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 6:10 pm It hasn't stood the test of time for me personally. UB40's debut album is decent, then they went downhill.
