Also battling to get a fern out (well part of it), which over a few years the base of which has grown significantly. I thought an easy enough job, just get the spade/fork and lift it out, but no it didn't want to leave. After much pulling and profanity it did eventually give in though

Given the grass a cut back and front..........after 3 or 4 dry days it's been about the first chance to get that pain in the ar*e first cut of the year out of the way. Easier now going forward

Meeting a friend to do an afternoon session visiting different microbreweries around-about downtown Los Angeles. Really looking forward to it, but expect to have a heavy head tomorrow morning.

Re: What are you doing today ?
We had a lovely, fruitful morning in Pocklington (about 13 miles), a really nice little town.
Visited The Hide which has changed & diversified since we were last there. We had coffee & one of their delicious cakes, but we must go back there as breakfasts looked extremely appetising

The Hide now has a small eating area outdoors if you are lucky to acquire a table, nice inside though.
The Hide is more than just a cafe/deli, as they cater for breakfast, lunch, evening meals & serve alcohol too!
Looking at their menu, we intend returning for breakfast one morning & a main meal on an evening

Re: What are you doing today ?
As Pocklington is an affluent area, they have some delightful independent shops so I made headway into their charity shops as I've picked up some quality CDs in the past. I wasn't let down once again,
Jimi Hendrix 'BBC Sessions' (2CD)
Nina Simone 'Emergency Ward/It Is Finished/Black Gold' 2CD
Joe Jackson 'Body & Soul'
Art Blakey 'Moanin'
John Peel 'Margrave Of The Marshes' BOOK
All for £7
Amazon have one copy only of the Hendrix CD on sale for £32.

As Jill needed some plants (amongst other things she has got in mind) we then headed off to Langlands Garden Centre five miles away, it is massive & one of the most comprehensive garden centres we visited

Recently bought a new house, been decorating and refurb works last few weeks, today the door bell rang, 2 kids from next door " sorry mister, our ball went over t' fence in your garden, may we get it ?"
Sure son, says I, they did and went back next door, who was that , the Mrs enquired, I told her, she said oh, how sweet, I then said, one of em had a moan utd top on, if t' ball comes back over I'm gonna bust it.
