Re: Music of the Swinging Sixties....
Here we go for Friday's selection.
I have a 2CD compilation by The Easybeats.
'Friday On My Mind' is one of their two No.1 singles in 1966.

To finish off my day theme, here is a classic from 1963, surprised this song never made the top twenty in the UK.

Lots of great music to choose from, but my favorite album is Elvis 1968 TV Special soundtrack, the return of the King. Favorite single, The Carnival is over by The Seekers. I thought Judith Durham had the best female vocal of the sixties.

Only I could go from David McWilliams to Radiohead

Picked up this beauty a few weeks ago.
Two CD Hendrix live-set for a quid, cheapest you'd find this album now is around £20

Who doesn't think the 50's-70's was the best era in music. The simplicity and honesty and fun of the 50's (mi dad loved it), the seriousness, dedication, formality, flower power of the 60's.... and the wild technological advancement experimentation and fueled love of the 70's. Wish i was there.... Anyway this one is catchy.

'I Like It' was the second of their three No.1's when singles were selling millions during the 60s.Leeds1000 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 5:25 pm Who doesn't think the 50's-70's was the best era in music. As a kid I bought that song plus 'Ferry Cross The Mersey' 'I'm The One' & 'Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying'
Gerry, Beatles, Stones, Dave Clark Five, Searchers, Merseybeats, Foremost, etc were firm favourites.
Great childhood memories!

Great era for music 64. That's when popular music was at its peak imo.
