Not a lover of the highlights reel. I remember lots of people getting pumped by Jay Roy Grot’s highlights. But I like the look of the way the kid runs with the ball. In particular his balance and he also has the ability to play a disguised pass accurately whilst actually on the move. That quite frankly is a massive upgrade on what we currently have.

A reminder, he's 12 months older than Drameh and only 18 months older than Joffy. He's younger than all of Struijk, Shackleton and Roberts.
He's nowhere near the finished product yet.
We'd be creaming our pants if that was Sam Greenwood turning on a dime and carrying the ball through the Bayern midfield.
I've watched a bit of him, he isn't super physical, he probably also lacks a killer pass and his passing in general isn't absolutely amazing, he's more of a ball carrier, which isn't a bad thing considering we have literally no-one in our midfield capable of beating a man, carrying it and creating some space. I think this is reflected in his relatively lower assist count in the Austrian Bundesliga.
His strengths are his technical ability, definitely his control in tight (which is what you absolutely need to maintain possession in the PL), he's quick, with a good engine and like Dan James, is an elite presser for someone that plays an attacking role. He's absolutely built for a counter pressing side, which is also why Bielsa also really liked him.
Physically, he will make Klich look like a cart horse in comparison, with his speed and ability to carry the ball.
If he continues to develop he could be amazing, considering the lack of options we currently have in central midfield (as well as a genuine #10), it's a no brainer.
His brother Paxton is arguably even more highly rated and only 18 and still in the MLS system. If we were smart, we'd buy him also and loan him back/add him to the u/23's. Im sure Salzburg will be right onto that though.

Re: Aaronson - yes or No at 30M ish
I voted yes after reading on the tinterweb.
Apparently he is a no 10 and can operate as a false no 9. He can play the dribbling, attacking midfield role as well as a pacey forward and is able to pick out a team mate after just a few touches in tight positions. He has skill, pace and adapts well, so the PL is a natural step forwards for Brendan and most believe he will fit in well with Leeds' new system under their new manager.

Re: Aaronson - yes or No at 30M ish
That Cjay reel, there's some bad stuff in there as well.
He looks nimble, but i think Paul pointed out the Prem is faster and tougher and quite a step up in relation to physicality, time on the ball and having to think quicker, i'd take a punt on him at todays crazy prices, looks a better buy than Rodrigo and i think he would make Klich look a bit of a carthorse also these days, it's probably the end of Klich now anyhoos, let the clean out begin.
Who we binning ? I don't think we'll ever see a good Dallas now Bert's gone, he won't come back the same player in a new system he'll be fcked, not the end of the line yet, but v close.
Coops is another Hee Haw defensively.
Patrick can't hit a cows arse, so how we gonna use him huh ?.....Sell, sell, sell.......buy, buy buy....Pray, pray pray.

IF we sign him would be good if we could get a Ward-Prowse type dead ball specialist as well, as Aaronsen will definitely win loads of free kicks around the box.

Re: Aaronson - yes or No at 30M ish
Hopefully, this season has been the kick in the nuts that Radz, Kinnear and Orta needed to make them realize that if you don't invest in your squad and look to continually improve it then you're dead in the water and going back to the Championship immediately.
Aaaronson looks a great young talent, full of energy and creativity and seems like he can pick a pass really well. This is the type of player that I expected we were getting in Rodrigo, but so far after two seasons he's been a flop and a half and an expensive failure.
I still think we need another ACM/right winger, especially if Raphinha goes, and for me the best choice there would be Brennan Johnson, or another young player with the same amount of talent, creativity and goal threat. I'd like to see Forest win the play-off final as they're a better football side than Huddersfield, with a better coach. But from a Leeds perspective it would be better if Forest stay down and we can then pick Brennan Johnson up way cheaper.
I think for what he's achieved in keeping us up, which is a heck of a feat considering the clip on us this season and especially during February, Jesse deserves a permanent run at the job. If it doesn't work out, then Steve Cooper would be my choice as his replacement in the future. But by then Cooper will either be well entrenched at Forest at EPL level, or will have been snapped up by a team like Arsenal, Arteta's days are numbered, they were amazingly foolish to extend his contract.
I do hope and expect that Jesse has a ruthless streak and will look to cull a lot of deadwood from this squad, that will start right now, as he's done enough to be diplomatic while he got us over the finish line.
For me the following can go:
Ayling
Llorente
Cooper
Firpo
Forshaw
Dallas
Leif Davis
Roberts
Klich
Rodrigo
James
Harrison
Raphinha will leave with my blessings, as the guy has virtually single-handedly kept us up this season.
KP and Bamford might stick around now we've stayed up, but there are big question marks over their fitness and availability in the short and long-term.
I really do hope that the Championship sentimentality and lack of ambition is removed from the equation when the squad is refreshed this summer, otherwise we're in for another season of mediocrity and potential relegation.

Sounds perfect. I'd like to sign his brother too, as Americans are raving about him.Pykie wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 12:35 am A reminder, he's 12 months older than Drameh and only 18 months older than Joffy. He's younger than all of Struijk, Shackleton and Roberts.

I'm just glad that we're signing a young player for the FIRST TEAM. The club seem to think if you're under 23, you must play u23s football.

Re: Aaronson - yes or No at 30M ish
You are correct. I did offer those words of caution because people here need to have the proper expectations. However, I do think he can raise his game to Premier League level. Americans tend to adjust pretty well to life in England. There is nobody on the current Leeds squad with his skillset. He fits with the system JM is likely to play. And I would absolutely buy him.Kennyb41 wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 7:06 am That Cjay reel, there's some bad stuff in there as well.

Agree with the above but would add Bamford as he's always been a bit injury prone and wouldn't be upset to lose Meslier if we could get Nick Pope.White Riot wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 8:33 am

I'm assuming you've never seen Sam Greenwood's free kicks?

He's young and promising but far from a finished product. Prem will be a big challenge for him and he won't have faced the kind of pressure you all and the press will put on him. He gets to fly a bit under the radar with the USA team as the focus is on CP, the lack of producing 9, and some keeper concerns.
He's an extremely hard worker and you will love the effort and work rate, he will pressure defenses relentlessly when not in possession, a real pest. From the little I know of Leeds, he feels like a great fit personality wise.

From that clip he looks great, but so did JKA, although BA has a much better skill set, infact he runs forward with the ball, passes forward, even his back heels went forward, beats players, has pace, the big question is, is he really better than what we already have ?
Some of his turn of pace close control bits are very Messi-esq, without getting carried away.

Bit concerned that all the talk about Aaronson is how his end product needs work but he runs a lot.
That was a major problem under Bielsa.
We signed players who only ran a lot but had crap end product.
We need to move away from that.
Hopefully Aaronson has a better end product than his numbers suggest.
Certainly looked decent vs Bayern but I am concerned
