Water shortage

Post by mentalcase »

Anyone else find it pathetic that an Island can't supply it's inhabitants with fresh water in this day & age ?
Desalination plants !!!!!!!
Christ, I've been saying this for 40 odd years, I'm well travelled, spent a lot of times in the middle east, they are light years ahead of us some a lot of respects, the oasis' in t'desert are greener than my lawn.
Why do we British struggle with all kinds of differing weathers , fucked in the cold, fucked in the heat.
I'm sitting on my patio sipping.......nah, quaffing vodka and its 25C, not struggling one bit.

Even stranger when they are enacted over here.. The Emerald Isle..

Desalination plants require huge amount of energy to run.

Ironic in the current crisis.

First stop surely is to stop using our watercourses as bins.

Quaffing vodka. Fair play.
We need to conserve and save water way better than we do. And yes stop using rivers as a toilet extension. And the sea for that matter.

Can’t disagree with that or the other comments about how the water companies totally abuse without any fear of retribution the discharge of sewage into the rivers

Joke isn't it. No water, rationing fuel, food shortages blah blah blah...You would think we live in Venezuela.

I am planning on building an Olympic size swimming pool in my back garden just in case.
