I actually loved the 12" version of We Don't Need That Fascist Groove Thing" and played it to death.
Mainly down to John Peel's influence

Still gets a regular airing here, Sara, along with most of their stuff. Saw them in London towards the end of last year on what they suggested might be a final tour. Put on an excellent show. Great band

I found Heaven 17 the other way around, as in heard them during the Temptation/Come Live With Me phase and only found PaP years later. So I have to admit my fondness is tied up with nostalgia rather than a critical analysis.Muppet the Cat wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 10:29 pm But not a patch on Penthouse and Pavement, their best imo
You don't hear Come Live With me any more. I guess a song that started with "I was 37, you were 17" was on dodgy ground, maybe even then...

Whittled it down to 2 anarcho punk albums......either Flux Of Pink Indians - Strive To Survive Causing Least Suffering Possible or Rudimentary Peni - Death Church...........
Think I'll go with the Peni.

Go on then young lady, you can have 'Under A Blood Red Sky' on the condition you give my other nomination at least one point.
Another live album from the band, Japan 'Oil On Canvas'
Love this song

So, you're not going back to Japan, or 505, or the Arctic Monkeys, but you are going back to U2!becchio bear wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 10:34 am Thank you little old man. I like Japan so that's a deal![]()

I'm surprised I get it then, cos I defo am not a fan.
For me that live album, even though good, was one of them that everyone had, apart from me
Just like:
Meat Loaf - Bat out of hell
Human League - Dare
Got sick of hearing them Leon, and I would take SLF, or Undertones ahead of U2 any day of the week.

Good man
Yeah, the early U2 albums we're more authentic for me. But they morphed into this giant, corporate money making machine and seemed happy to follow that route.
SLF especially stayed true to their roots, I'll take Jakey Burns over Bono all day long.
