Vinyl/CD purchases & collections

I went to see Hawkwind playing at Derwent College, York Uni with my Leeds supporting mate Dave (who I've had a memorial stone laid for in the new Bielsa section) when we were 15. We were right at the front with our legs under the stage blocks. Hawkwind came on accompanied by two fully naked women who danced through the whole set. Fortunately our tounges didn't get stood on.

They were staying at the Chase Hotel were I'd just started work as an apprentice chef, so cooked their breakfasts the next morning.

God I miss the 1970s!

Made a huge mistake when I sold my main record collection as circumstances forced me to make room. ( The Mrs)
That was in 2010 and without a doubt I regret it to this day. Now I pick up vinyl here and there but cd's are being given away in the local charity shops, one near me is selling cd's 5 for a £1 its absolute madness imo but the younger generation would rather listen to an MP3 on their phone, on the same par as a low noise cassette tape. Record Decks are a marvel of beauty imo, I have owned some great ones Linn, Revolver and Systemdeck all with quality cartridges. Now I have an old Pioneer which was passed down to me and is in storage. Will get it set up sometime soon and break out Dark Side of the Moon.

Since then, I have purchased/acquired 130 vinyl albums, some bargains as well as quite a few expensive albums.

I was listening to Dark Side Of The Moon this afternoon, which sounds brilliant on my set-up.

Something magical about vinyl, its an experience from picking up a record and admiring the art work to taking it out of its sleeve and
putting on the record deck. Cd's are great but Vinyl just transports you back to when you bought the record and all memories surrounding that time... just fantastic.......

I'm experiencing a similar joy after collecting music since 1962, it's gone full circle starting with vinyl & now & I'm like a kid with a sweetie shop with my new hi-fi & collecting vinyl at a similar rate as I did with CDs, a collection which is immense!

It's great having first dabs of new stock he's acquiring.

Pete will clean them up on his £800 record cleaning machine & inspect them, in readiness for when I return from our holiday.

Yes, but it was 39 degrees when we arrived in Southwold at the end of June, 28 degrees plus for the rest of the week.

So I had a fabulous holiday, wearing undies, shorts, t-shirts & flip flops, with my bouffant in tact all week.

Sunshine & light showers forecasted next week, so my brolly will protect the bouffant.

I’m so jealous, when I was younger I couldn’t afford to buy a decent record player & then LP’s on top of that & then when I could afford it I wanted to be able to take my music with me so bought cassettes & then CD’s so never got the whole vinyl experience. Maybe it’s time to sell my collection & buy a decent set up & start from scratch.

Comes with the two carded inner sleeves & postcard, which is now back in it's outer black sleeve.

An emotive double album recorded to pay off his wife Anna, after the break up of their turbulent marriage, the album focusing on their acrimonious divorce.
