Still think Muharemovic is an upgrade (if only slightly), I reckon there is more to come from Tarik in the long term.
Has Struijk actually played for Brighton yet?

Had a total of about 20mins from 2 sub appearances but the game was already well over when he came on against Coventry yesterday.

Their captain is their left centre back but he’s getting on. Waiting game

But……… I liked a lot of what Evans had to say, the Farke contract is progressing, we’re being run better financially, we’re a stronger team than we were, we’re staying clear of SCR penalties, SCR will help us in the long term.
Good corporate PR bullstih or not, time will tell but I’m liking what I see.
Just seems like we are being run senseibly but also with ambition.

Bornauw was excellent when he played, he's outplayed Elvedi so far for us. Elvedi looks clumsy and slow at times which means he's more Bijol. Be interesting to see who replaces Rodon tonight. Justin will continue to get the nod, he's premiership quality and likely to be next man up for a few of our defensive positions

As I say, better is arguable though it probably is a touch better this season. It's not deeper imo
Strange how some see it. I like Bornauw, solid but for me I would have said clumsy and slow in that he was reacting to danger rather than reading it. Elvedi from what I have seen looks a far more accomplished defender, especially on the ball. If Elveid was a few years younger I'd have seen him costing similar to Tarik.

Tarik and Elvedi for me are our locks at centreback at the moment with JJ keeping Rodon's place until he is back. See Bijol as the odd man out though he might start in the games where the opposition have more of a target man type player or where we are expecting more of an aerial bombardment.

All about being able to beat the opposition's press and to do that you either go long (which we had some success with last season) or you have centre backs who are comfy on the ball and can play the passes to bypass the opposition pressers. As such Bijol loses out, as Bornauw did.

So I would say we have improved our quality in defence and improved our depth in that Bornauw was injury prone and we couldn't really risk playing Byram in consecutive games if they were just a few days apart.

Plus he cost us an extra 18M... We don't buy Muha if Struijk stays, and we don't get weaker in defence.
The same Struijk that most fans were desperate to be dropped. Only returned to the side (after being replaced) when we found that Bijol wasn't really comfortable in a centreback pairing. I liked Struijk but he had his limitations. I don't see any part of Tarik's game as being weaker than Struijk's.

And the £18m is irrelevant. Just because we spent money doesn't mean we mark Tarik down or Struijk up. Judging them solely on their ability, not age or cost, and I think Tarik wins hands down. Not the finished article but for me he is already at least at Struijk's level and probably better - and that would be against judging him against the best version of Struijk.

Struijk is 27. Waiting game could see him miss out in his prime years.

Too early for me as to how good Elvedi is in the prem. but he looks good so far. The love in for Born is because he did not play often, something which is repetitive, players on the bench are often the missing piece. Although I would still argue Gnonto was underused. But Farke knows best, we only see half the picture.

Born never blew me away, even when he did play, solid but not any unexpected moments of ‘Wow.

I agree the defence is a big upgrade in depth, quality and adaptability. Incidentally he won’t reply to your posts, you are on his naughty list. I don’t read his stuff unless he is quoted. Far too much emphasis on personal favourites.

Still early days at Brighton - but he looks like a back up to Dunk currently - who is 34. Just a matter of time really if they see him as his successor. He will surely play in Europe, if he doesn’t it probably wasn’t a wise move. But he wanted a change of scenery and European football. He has definitely got one of those.

Will be interesting to see how Tarik deals with Haaland, who Struijk pocketed last season IIRC. Not to say I think Struijk is better than Tarik, but it was definitely a stand-out moment in Pascal's season last year.

Not seen anyone comment on the SCR stuff. Robbie Evans' comments seem to clarify why/how Ipswich have managed to spend so much this past transfer season. If teams won't get a points deduction for surpassing the SCR threshold, but a fine that's been kicked down the road a bit, I feel Ipswich are doing a Nottingham Forest and betting on paying the fine as a trade-off for having the quality to stay up. A bit naughty but if the League has allowed this loophole, I can see why they would do it. Glad we're not mind, since we all know the rules would be changed to punish us if we did such a thing.

Very intelligent footballer Struijk, not the showy kind of defender but his positioning and supreme ability to just box players out of the game meant he had a few forwards in his pocket last season, and that's not mentioning his elite passing. If he had a touch more pace he'd have gone for a hell of a lot more.

I know. A shame as even if I disagree with him I respect his opinion and ultimately that is what a forum is about.
