Maybe difficult to seperate that from him being the manager in charge when relegated?
I think that is likely a big factor. Under Nuno West Ham picked up 36 from 33 matches - so whilst it could be argued they could have stayed up if he had a full season in charge it would have still been very nervy. Obviously it could be argued that they might have done better as he'd have been able to bring in players he wanted during the summer.

To be fair after watching the extended highlights a draw seemed a fair result as Burnley had plenty of chances throughout the match so it was hardly like WH outplayed them, got 2-0 up and then sat back and tried to see the match out.

Hhhhm I can think of one - even though it appears you try your best to never give him any praise and try to diminish his achievements.

I will give you a clue:

3 title wins and 1 play off final in 5 years managing in the division.

Did about as well as a manager could do coming in after the season started tbf.

But fans will still remember him as the manager who took them down technically so will jump on every mistake.

A crucial word has been missed I fear . . . .

"Career"

Not Championship

Nuno's cv for a Championship manager is probably about as good as it gets.

Championship winner
Back to back 7th placed Premier League finishes.
Taking Forest into Europe
Valencia into Champions League
Etc

Doesn’t take a lot to upset West Ham fans. They seem to be more fickle than most fan bases.

The Championship is a marathon and is a dogfight as we well know.

Playoff places are for teams 3rd to 8th this season which implies that they will have a route to promotion even in a poor season.

Purely in the Championship Scott Parker's record must be hard to beat.

The crucial word is championship as that is really all that is relevant. Finishing 7th in the prem as a manager doesn't neccessarily mean you have what it takes to hold your nerve in a promotion race. Could be argued that a relevant experience was his Forest side being in the Champions League places towards the end of the season and then falling away. Similarly with West Ham they got out of the relegation zone with a few games left and then fell back into it. So he has a pedigree for his teams falling apart when they need to hold their nerve - his promotion winning side had a fairly pressure free end of season with a lack of real competition (Warnock's Cardiff came 2nd).

Easy to judge someone looking at simply what is printed rather than actually taking a deep dive. Watch the film moneyball - all about working out how to look beyond certain stats, big names etc - and actually identifying what is actually rleevant.

Is Nuno a good manager or did he simply benefit from his mate, 'superagent' Jorge Mendes, giving him a team in the championship that had players that were far too good for the championship? Did Nuno actually underperform with them in reaching 99 points?

For me West Ham should still go up with Nuno in charge but I can see why fans would want someone like Scott Parker in instead - proven track record of success in the championship without having teams that were miles better than the rest of the competition.

In terms of getting maybe the less talented teams promoted Parker has probably the best record.

But I don't think can knock what Nuno has done.

He has pedigree for exceeding expectations.

All he has to do with West Ham is achieve probably what the squad should.

As he did with Wolves and his super team.

I expect he will

The main issue fans seem to have is his style of play but from what I remember his Wolves team played a very attractive style of football so maybe that will evolve.

But I do think the relegation hangover will make the fans less patient whereas a new manager probably gets the benefit for a few games.

Nuno in eighth manager's job in twelve years.

Says it all about him, a bit of a journeyman.

Both West Ham & Burnley winless and finding the championship tough as they sit in the bottom six.
