As anyone who has been to Elland Road over the past few weeks will tell you Leeds United are hardly playing good, elegant football at the moment. Passing has been wayward, defending sloppy and we’ve barely turned up in the first half of games. In fact the last goal we scored in the first half of a match was against Nottingham Forest on 29th November. That said in the last three league games we have picked up seven points out of a possible nine. Despite the murmurs of dressing room unrest and fall-out of the Howson sale we have seen a never say die attitude from the players coming back from a losing position each game to pick up points. In the last seven league games we have scored four goals beyond the 90 minute mark, and in the same period seven goals in the last quarter of the match.
So what’s more important, playing nice football or picking up the points? This has so far been a challenging season for Leeds United. We started off the year with a young team full of promise, now having sold two of our most promising stars it feels a bit more make do and mend. Our squad is patched up with ex-players and loans and our performances seem disjointed yet we are still taking the points. It takes time to embed a philosophy and build a team and as Leeds fans we are impatient. We have suffered too long in the ‘lower leagues’ and now with Premiership football within arm’s reach we are more desperate than ever.
I suppose in reality it doesn’t really matter how we get there, how we play as long as we keep taking points. It just might not be pretty to watch.

The thing is Bates is always justifying ticket prices by saying it's one of the best value forms of entertainment. I've seen the last few games, I beg to differ.
Difficult call that poll, imo. Of course we all want to see good football AND promotion. However, in the real world neither is gonna happen. Even top teams play shoddily at times, nature of the game. I'd prefer to see us being consistent. If that means winning games scrapily, then so be it.
Promotion at any cost? No thanks. Id rather us play consistent and pull clear of the pack in this league to gain promotion. I find the whole foreign investment etc as merely a way for the super rich to play at the game. Promotion through consistency and careful investment. Unfortunately the two things that will probably never happen under the present regime at LUAFC.
Promotion by any means is just dreaming. This team will need more than its fair share of luck to make the play offs. Some decent players in some areas and Snodgrass is just brilliant, but overall there isn't the balance or the investment. Is the transfer window open? Does anybody know? Oh, of course it is they just sold Howson!!
no ideally i like us to play great football, exciting football, disciplined football, stingy at the back and deadly in front of goal but i am sick of all our quality players benefitting other teams with all our players that are gracing the premiership still we wuold have a pretty decent team. so promotion at any cost so we can build on the quality we already have. or bates to sell up and get some multi billionaire owner who will throw money at us fonzy0929
Quite simply, this will always be Leeds United, whoever the playing and coaching staff are, whoever owns us. I'd prefer for us to start getting our act together and playing decent football (which should bring about winning?).
If we went up we'd almost certainly come back down unless we went mad over Summer as I don't believe the squad now is strong enough, we lack s decent spine now that Howson's gone...
