Apparently it's all Berts training that fcked him into early retirement poor chap.

Leeds cult hero Berardi announces retirement
Former Leeds defender Gaetano Berardi has announced his retirement aged 34.

Berardi made more than 150 appearances for Leeds in all competitions between 2014 and 2021, and became a fan favourite during his time at Elland Road for his all-action playing style and commitment.

He posted on Instagram: "A word can contain many emotions, many feelings, many memories and most of all many people. I choose one to close the chapter: THANK YOU!"

The Swiss right back, who won one senior international cap, was a key member of the Leeds side which won promotion to the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa in 2020.

One of my favourite recent Leeds players.

Met him once in Leeds, was surprised how small he was.

He had balls and spirit, what most of these w**kers lacked. Relegation is hard enough to process, but the way we went down was galling with zero fight.

What would have Charlton, Hunter and Bremner made of this bunch.

I would have taken Ian Baird over Rodrigo and Bamford.

I was one of the lucky 8,000 fans at that West Brom match for the memorable send-off our fans gave Gaetano & Pablo.

Very emotional  :verysad:

All 10 of us got lucky with the tickets for that one too, albeit I had to go in the East Stand.

As you say, an emotional one to say the least
