Patto is one of my favourites, so sad the board has taken this action. I felt sorry for Patto having been lumbered with captaining Yorkshire's 2nd XI & expected to compete with the elite.

The club stinks!

Royal London Cup starts today and runs through August alongside the step and fetchit 100. I guess due to the 100 taking players from counties thr RLC becomes the equivalent of the League cup with a lot of second 11 players playing

Yorks out the gate fast with 353 from their 50 v Northants I think

Hopefully Hants start well enough to stay in the hunt for the triple, they go Friday

Thread title could use Royal London cup adding, the 100 isn't county cricket so maybe a new thread for the dumbed down version of the sport might be the way to go if there are fans of it

Blimey, even if you score 350+ runs, you can still lose a match as Worcestershire found to their cost vs Kent.

Well we lost our first 4 T 20 games and it looks like we're gonna lose game 1 of the RLC... Slow starters for sure

Great bowling got us the win in game 1

Game two today saw 181 from future England player Tom Prest and 117 from captain Nick Gubbins to get Hants to 397-5 off 50. Then our bowling on a great batting wicket have Kent at 222-9. 33 overs gone

Game three saw the opposition needing 11 and 5 wickets and all the time in the world left. We still won

Game four saw ua chasing 250 something and we looked dead and buried at 35 -5 ..We still won

This team don't know when to give up

Game 5 and Toby Albert does it again, Lancs bowled out for 183, Hants 103-6 but Albert's excellent 65 with the tail end including a 16 yr old Dom Kelly got us over the line v the #2 team Lancs

5-0

Yorks can go second if they win their game in hand

I suppose it's congrats to Surrey then as they win the CC with a game to spare, beating Yorkshire by 10 wickets today to take the honours with nearest challengers Hampshire failing to beat Kent to take it to the last game. After coming so close last season and having an excellent season this year too, Hampshire will be kicking themselves once again. Truth is after putting up a good fight in the second innings against Kent, they left themselves far too much to do after being bowled out for 57 in their first and their wait for a first title since 1973 goes on.

As for Yorkshire our season has gone from average to terrible. A solitary win in any season is never acceptable but I guess it is a sign of the situation the club in general finds itself in these days. While the changes off the field last winter were needed, they have done nothing to improve the fortunes of the team on it. As per, key players were missing for most of the year and the loss of Harry Brook mid way through for his 10 minutes in an England shirt meant Yorkshire were never at the races. Steve Patterson will leave the club after the Gloucestershire game after serving us well and I think it is time other players moved on too. Adam Lyth and Tom Kohler-Cadmore to name but a few.

My player of the year would've been Brook but with his mid-season departure it goes to George Hill who was great with both bat and ball at times.

Not great times for Yorkshire and mathematically we ain't even safe from the drop yet !

One victory in what has been a dreadful season for us Yorkies, mind you we are playing on a unlevel playing field to the likes of Surrey & Hampshire, take out half of their best players & they would struggle like Yorks & other county clubs have done.

God knows what Yorks future will be without our old warrior Patto, whom kept Surrey's first innings total down to 333 all out with his four wickets for 69 runs off his 20 overs, without him Surrey would probably score 500 runs, Patto is significantly less expensive than the rest of our bowling attack.

I fear relegation next season!

We didn't hear about Hampshire's demise from our resident correspondent ;-)

Congratulations to Surrey even though international knockabout cricket has killed our hopes as a County Championship Cricket Club.

I posted cricket on waccoe, couldn't find the one here.

Kent have beaten us 3 out of 3 in important games. Cost us a shot at the CC and a place in the final v Lancs in the RL. Surrey is the only other team to beat us this year in a game that means anything

You could say Kent are Hants bogey side.

Surrey & Hampshire undoubtedly the top two sides by a mile this season.

It has been a challenging summer for Yorkshire and they still have work to do to make certain of playing Division One cricket next summer.

With one win from 13 matches, they begin this final round of games 15 points above Warwickshire, so know that a draw with a couple of bonus points would be enough.

However, that sole victory was back in April, albeit against this week's opponents, already relegated Gloucestershire. A word of warning though for the White Rose - Warwickshire saw their game against Glos last week as their chance to pull out of the bottom two and they lost.

Joe Root is playing golf up in Scotland, Harry Brook is with England in Pakistan but there are last games in Yorkshire colours for Steve Patterson and Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

There is big news, though, in the return of England seamer Matthew Fisher, who has not played since that win in Bristol in April.

So it's between Kent, Yorkshire & Warwickshire for the second relegation place.

Not looking great after the first day's play.
