Euro 2020 qualifying was not so kind to Leeds United’s international contingent. Liam Cooper, Gjanni Alioski and Stuart Dallas all featured in qualification but with Scotland, North Macedonia and Northern Ireland all knocked out they will have the summer off. So which of Leeds United’s squad could be starring for their countries this summer or which will be looking at https://newcasinostar.co.uk/new-casino-sites-2020/ to pass the time this summer? With Poland, Wales, Portugal and England all qualifying for this summer’s tournament we look at the dead certs and outside bets to represent their nations…
Capped 23 times for Poland since making his debut in 2011 and featuring in eight of their ten qualification games Klich is the most likely of the current Leeds United squad to grace the Euro 2020 tournament. After an exceptional season for Leeds United last season he had a slow start to the 2019-2020 Championship campaign but has now regained some of his best form. Competition from Piotr Zieliński could see Klich’s appearances restricted to coming off the bench and with a tough group containing Spain and Sweden opportunities could be limited.
There is no questioning Tyler Roberts’ ability, he is one of the most exciting prospects at Leeds and a fit Roberts is a serious attribute to Wales. His issue will be staying fit. Injury plagued the young Welshman’s early career at Leeds and further injury delayed his participation this season. After a substitute appearance in the 5-4 victory against Birmingham Leeds have erred on the side of caution in recent weeks, protecting a tight hamstring. But if Roberts can overcome those issues he could be a vital part of the promotion push. His versatility to play as a winger, playmaker and striker could be useful for Ryan Giggs as Wales hope to escape Group A.
Hélder Costa has represented Portugal at every level and was named in the team of the tournament at the 2013 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship. He made his first and only senior team appearance against Scotland at Hampden Park on 14 October 2018 scoring the opening goal in a 3-1 victory. If he doesn’t get a call up this summer he should check this online casino guide in Latvia for a chance of winning something in Europe. Competition from Gonçalo Guedes, João Félix and someone called Cristiano Ronaldo mean a call up for Costa is extremely unlikely. But who knows, with a few injuries Portugal could turn to the Leeds United winger who has begun to show his potential in the last few weeks.
Another outside bet, not because he isn’t good enough, because he is but because England rarely look to the Championship for their players. Phillips has had an exceptional 18 months under Marcelo Bielsa, proving he can compete with world class players by keeping Mesut Özil out of the game during Leeds’ FA Cup tie against Arsenal. Declan Rice and Harry Winks have featured in the holding midfield role for England in recent matches but Phillips is potentially better than both of them. If Gareth Southgate is prepared to take a risk Phillips be in line for a call up this March when England face Italy and Denmark in Friendlies. If Euro 2020 is too soon for Phillips expect to see him in an England shirt for the World Cup in 2022.
