They should be down on their knees thanking God and all the Angels that Dyche wandered into Turf Moor almost a decade ago. He has overseen 2 promotions and 6 seasons in the top flight with relatively little expenditure.

At this stage you just have to think anyone who says 'Allardyce" is a clown looking for a laugh.

First summer they've really splashed any significant cash and they are right down the bottom.

I often hear Burnley fans complaining about lack of finances and spending but what have they been doing with all the money? They have a low wage bill and relatively cheap players but they still get the same TV money as everyone else. Where has it gone?

They're in a similar position to us. Over reliant on sentiment and using the same aging players forever. They've got away with it, as there's been 3 teams worse than them every year, but that doesn't look to be the case this year. Huge wake up call for the 3 stooges at the top (if we stay up of course).

They spent £14m on their French signing Cornet in the summer who undoubtedly their most talented footballer, he's been banging in goals like yesterday's all season, you could say he is to Burnley what Raphinha is to Leeds.

Also £12m on Connor Roberts from Swansea plus four free signings including Aaron Lennon.

Would presume the owners, chairman etc have been paying themselves extremely well.

Dyche has done extremely well given his budget. Not keen on the style of their football but not easy to change a team's style and improve their points without major expenditure.

and we spent what, 25m on James....

Cornet is the kind of signing that Orta with his European connections should be securing for us.

James is British and you pay a premium for British players. I'm happy with James, 25 is a reasonable price

Strongly disagree.

The British transfer market is well known for being exceptionally poor value throughout Europe.

Its a massively inflated market which makes bargains very hard to find.

£25mil for Dan James is very poor value when compared to similar deals throughout Europe imo.

Not saying it's right but it is the norm. James for one quarter of Grealish's price is a f**king steal

No guarantee with foreign players that they will be able to acclimatise. Dan James is a less risky signing in that he knows the country, speaks the language, knows the weather, knows the tempo of the football, has his family and friends living nearby etc. All stuff which can make a huge difference to how well a player will perform.

Interestingly Burnley's starting XI yesterday contained 8 of the same players that also started a match for them in August 2018. So while people can knock Burnley for being so poor it was a side that was familiar with each other and well used to playing their way. The keeper, Dwight McNeil and Charlie Taylor were the 3 players who didn't play in that match and both McNeil and Taylor were at the club in 2018 so again are both well used to playing for Burnely. Definitely more a case of us making them look poorer than they actually are.

Great news. Pity that Watford got away with keeping their African Cup player during the tournament.

Proven Prem player that is British vs someone that "should" make it.
Every game I predict a 3 - 1 Leeds win, I am traditional like that.
