Re: Brentford Thread - Captain Pontus leading his troops!
White & Pontus would have been a great combination.
Re: Brentford Thread - Captain Pontus leading his troops!
I would put him ahead of Cooper and Koch all day long. Koch has hardly impressed since he's been here, spending more time on the treatment table. Pontus has a lot of passion and desire, which never sat well with the stubborn one. It was a travesty getting rid of him and particularly at that price (Orta classic). He's clearly more than capable at playing at this level.
Re: Brentford Thread
Brentford unlucky not to gain a point, gave Chelsea a right fright. Mendy saved them.
Re: Brentford Thread
Goalkeeper David Raya will be out for "between four and five months" because of a knee injury.
Raya has been an excellent keeper since the Bees signed him from Blackburn in 2019.

Good win for Brentford this weekend.
Re: Brentford Thread
Must admit, they've surprised me so far this season (unfortunately). I really thought they would have tapered off by now...
Re: Brentford Thread
Brentford have offered Christian Eriksen a 6 month contract with an option for a further year.
I was watching that day Eriksen collapsed, the single most traumatic thing I have seen on a football pitch.
If he can continue his career anywhere then good luck to him.

Re: Brentford Thread
Brentford have announced the signing of the Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen on a deal until the end of the season. He was a free agent after being released by Internazionale in mid-December because his cardiac device implant means he is suspended from playing in Italy.
Eriksen, 29, has not played since suffering a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s Euro 2020 game with Finland on 12 June and was keen for a return to top-level action in the hope of going to the World Cup.
Eight of Brentford’s players are from Denmark and so is the head coach, Thomas Frank, who worked with Eriksen in the national youth team set-up.

Re: Brentford Thread - Bees sign Christian Eriksen
Brentford love to please their fans.
Re: Brentford Thread - Bees sign Christian Eriksen
I don't think Eriksen has trained with a team let alone played competitive football since his cardiac arrest.
Re: Brentford Thread - Bees sign Christian Eriksen
Brentford manager Thomas Frank, speaking about new signing Christian Eriksen: “I am looking forward to working with Christian again. It has been a while since I last coached him, and a lot has happened since then. Christian was 16 at the time and has become one of the best midfield players to appear in the Premier League. He has also won trophies all over Europe and become the star of the Danish national team.
“We have taken an unbelievable opportunity to bring a World Class player to Brentford. He hasn’t trained with a team for seven months but has done a lot of work on his own. He is fit but we will need to get him match fit and I am looking forward to seeing him work with the players and staff to get back towards his highest level.
“At his best, Christian has the ability to dictate games of football. He can find the right passes and is a goal threat. He also has very, very good set piece delivery, both from corners and direct free kicks. He is a player you can find with the ball, and he will come up with a solution to the problem in front of him. Christian will also bring experience of top level football to the club. I expect him to have an impact in the dressing room and at the training ground."

Re: Brentford Thread - Bees sign Christian Eriksen
No doubt Eriksen will be back to a world class player by the time we play Brentford on the 22nd May.

He is a class player, have brentford got the kind of class players he will need to make him shine again, he can't do it on his own.
Fair play t' the fella for coming back, I wish him success, although not against us.
Another team looking forward with a signing like that.
