Re: Junior Firpo-Injured again

Post by Cjay »

Phil Hay provides Firpo update on podcast

‘I’m told that he’s got a slight thigh problem..

“I think as it stands at the moment, it’s hard to see him shifting Struijk from the team, I think Struijk has done enough to keep himself there, but it seems to me that at some point they’re going to have to bite the bullet at left-back and sign somebody else. It doesn’t need to be someone vastly experienced, it can be a project of sorts provided that you feel confident enough to play them in first-team games.

“Firpo almost falls into the category of Bamford at the moment, the conversation about him of how it could be when you have Firpo in the team when he has a run in the team. He’s another player that hasn’t played much at Leeds.”

Re: Junior Firpo-Injury update

Based on money spent relative to performance is he one of the worst signings in our history?

He has missed 22 out of 52 league games through injury since arriving.

His performances on the pitch have been largely crap.

His wages according to Spanish media were doubled by us from what he earned at Barcelona from around £25-30k a week to £50-60k so he is expensive.

He must be a contender?

A £15m fee plus 50k plus a week for no contribution a week whatsoever

What an utter waste.

The likes of Firpo, Forshaw & Bamford must be laughing when their bank statements pop through their letterboxes.

At least we had a couple of decent seasons out of Paddy.

Defo a contender, but Brolin and Seth Johnson lead the way.
Johnsons reportedly 37k wage went a good way to plunging us into mayhem.

Firpo and JKA although calamatous I dont think will hurt us in the same way.

Wins it hands down for me.

I'd go so far as to say Borthwick Jackson was better value and possibly player, and jeez he was garbage as well.

JKA I think will hurt us in the short term, our accounts showed no provision had been made apparently.

If we go down signings like Firpo would hurt us imo but it's a different money league now.

Pound for pound though Firpo has been as bad as anyone.

Never got the Brolin deal.

I don't remember him and always assumed he was this top talent in great form when we signed him.

But he wasn't.

He'd broke his foot in 94 and had been struggling ever since (hence why Parma wanted rid).

Didn't realise Orta had been in charge of our recruitment since 95 8-)

But yeah I always thought he was this in form top talent not someone who'd suffered a nasty injury and been on the slide for 12months

Classic mate, you're fookin dead right

They must be laughing their c**ks off.

I heard Bamford and Forshaw are injured again

Why don't they just keep quiet and instead Radz can send out one of his fookin daft texts when they're actually fit and make a positive contribution.

I've seen more of Lord Lucan than these fellas, you young uns will have to Google that un 8-)

I don't know what's going on with him. JM speaks about him like he is Roberto Carlos in training although i have never heard him mention that he is a good Defender.... When Llorente first arrived he was breaking down every game so i live in hope we may one day see the real Firpo... please stand up, please stand up

The salaries they are earning for doing nothing is obscene, especially with so many people struggling these days financially.

I never got the purchase of Firpo.

Second choice left back in a team that does very little defending.

He must have thought when he arrived “ they want me to do what? Track back quickly and defend? Crazy English league and what are these yellow card things?

That's the closest he has got to tackling in years.

Given Messi played right side a lot and Firpo is apparently a left back they must have been opponents in training often.

Assuming Messi took pity on him and didn't just humiliate him every day :duno:

Got an assist, got forward more 2nd half as others said.

Deserves a bump.

Best performance (2nd half) for a while?

Excellent today as he has been whenever he's played this season, wonderful passer of the ball and yes robbed of a goal...

He should look good against Cardiff, they all should but credit where its due he had 2/3 moments of game changing quality. Is it time for the Pascal to have a rest....
