Re: Newcastle United Thread
More January frustration for Newcastle it seems, this time with Lingard. As things stand, the deal is off, but the Athletic's David Ornstein says there is still plenty of time for things to change.
Speaking on the Transfer Gossip Daily on BBC Sounds, he said: "Although it feels like there are only a few days to go, there are many hours in those days and things can change incredibly quickly.
"Jesse Lingard initially wanted to stay at Manchester United until the end of the season and fight his way back into Ralf Rangnick’s plans.
"It’s a World Cup year of course so that’s in the forefront of his mind. There’s very little sign that he’s going to enjoy much game time and he’s barely played at all.
"Therefore with Newcastle coming in very strongly for him with what I’m sure will be a very lucrative offer, and the England game time in mind and the chance of re-establishing himself in Gareth Southgate’s plans made him think ok, we’ll do this.
"On Tuesday he did have a conversation with Ralf Rangnick on the phone and he gave him his blessing to join Newcastle or to leave on loan.
"But Manchester United and Newcastle need to agree terms and the loan fee that Manchester United want is what many would feel is extremely high and Newcastle aren’t prepared to meet that.
"So unless Manchester United change their stance or Newcastle come up to that level, then it’s off."Listen to the full show below.

Re: Newcastle United Thread
We did say Newcastle may have difficulty attracting top players this season
Re: Newcastle United Thread
Newcastle seem to be edging closer to signing Bruno Guimarães
The very highly rated Brazilian international is a next level signing for Newcastle and is seen as a top talent who would get into the starting 11 of most top European sides.

They only need enough to be better than 3 other teams and with our inactivity I'd imagine they will finish above us if they can find another 2 of Bruno Guimarães quality.
Secretly their must be quite a few bums twitching at Elland Road.

Newcastle's fans are guaranteed at least a signing over the next five days, sadly I can't say the same for us

Re: Newcastle United Thread
But how excited would us fans have been if we'd spent £25m on Chris Wood? Far easier for Newcastle to splash the cash as they don't have to worry about FFP as they haven't been spending excessively in the last 3 years. I'm sure if we had money to burn we could come up with an offer which Salzsburg wouldn't come down but we don't.

All we need is a couple of decent loan signings to get us through the next four months.weasel wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 1:12 am But how excited would us fans have been if we'd spent £25m on Chris Wood? Don't know much about the Barcodes new signing
How good is this Bruno?

Re: Newcastle United Thread
Similar to our Raph, he is seen as one of the new generation for Brazil.
Could easily have gone to a Champions League top 20 European club.
In terms of type of player he is similar to KP.

Just hope Newcastle don't sign Jesse Lingard, he'd score goals for them.
Re: Newcastle United Thread
Villa have signed Calum Chambers and Lucas Digne tbf, a first choice left back and a guy who plays all across the back 4.
Targett became surplus.
Unlike us Villa have depth.

Despite all the hype, they've spent a lot on bang average players. Only Guimaraes I'd want to sign.

Beat us and then improved the depth at the very least.
