The short form gets the benefit of the short window of good weather in this country imo, long evenings where spectators can finish work and go watch a game of step and fetchit
......as do you faaip

At least I'll get a good nights sleep without TMS on in the background, which is more than some of the English team will be having as I'd suggest they'll be having a few sleepless nights thinking about their god dam awful performance mixed with a few nightmares about having to face the Australian bowling attack , especially with the captain back in the line up

I'm not sure what the answer is but you can't put all the blame on the short game.
After all Australia have won the T20 World Cup and the ashes within a 6 week period.
We have been in decline now for a while and have only beaten Sri Lanka and South Africa away since 2013. Our good home form papered over the cracks.
It's no surprise that we are getting beat, but the way we fall apart and appear to have no backbone is the most concerning.

The whole English game needs a shake up.

Australia seem very good in all formats of the game, so I'd be in favour of following their model, we've done this in the past successfully.

Look how good Yorkshire were when coached by an Aussie, been a downhill spiral since Gillespie departed Yorks.

No way we can follow the Aussie model, we don't get the time or weather to do that. I was in Oz a few years back for 8 weeks in their winter and it was 70-80 degrees and I don't recall a drop of rain in that time

West Indies gets good weather as does SA most of the year round, The sub continent you just have to avoid the rainy season

We're at a massive disadvantage for long form cricket and it doesn't help we use the best of our weather and players for T20 and 50 over stuff. The CC being shoe horned in where it can and counties often playing second team players

Normally I'd say we would up our game now the series is lost but I just don't think we have the batting quality to do that.

Not me Swannie, that's for sure, nut bothered to watch another massacre. It's the equivalent of watching Man city 7 Leeds 0, for 3 or 4 days :x

I agree re our batting line up. No changes I believe only Broad in for Robinson

I will watch the first couple of hours unless we are being whipped again, then I'll turn off sooner

Thought Robinson has been one of the very few with any credit so far ... Injured or covid?

Well it'll be 01:30 here in Bulgaria Swannie, if I happen to wake up during the night I'll check the mobile to see what the score is.

If we're doing ok, I'll maybe stick the laptop on and watch a bit, as I'm off work tomorrow.

But I've lost a lot of interest in these bottle jobs, it's not a contest anymore.

I'm on holiday tomorrow so I'll probably listen in for a while Not exactly enthusiastic about England chances , once again it will depend on the toss

Last I heard they are predicting rain, but that may have changed.

It was raining this morning but that has now stopped (at least where I live). Grey skies though.

Read an interesting article today from one of our leading cricket writers. He claims - showing various precedents - that if this were not the Ashes then given the number of people affected by COVID, that the series would have been called off by now. And that the only reason it is continuing is financial.
