I hope that you lot went to bed rather than watched the cricket

Just read that over a 40-minute 53-ball spell this morning (Oz time), England lost 3 wickets without scoring a single run.

Well done to Johnny Bairstow - a century scored under pressure.

Still a long way behind , but the middle order managed to steady the ship after an early wobble , some players seem to have adopted Brian Close's method of batting I'd imagine there's some nice bruises on a couple of them , hopefully Bairstow's x-ray will show that there's no break and he can come back tomorrow

As for one of our batsman scoring a century is probably beyond them all apart from Root.
At least I was right on one count.

Well done our other Yorkshireman Jonny

Well done to Barstow, Stokes and Wood for showing fighting spirit.

Great knock by Barstow, despite being continually roughed up by the Aussies. How badly have England manages Ben Stokes, and others on this tour?

He was already injured and coming back from a long spell out. So they've asked him to bowl as quick as he can and bang it in short, all on one leg.

Consequently picked up another side injury as he's probably struggling to maintain his balance while bowling.

Barstow was heroic batting on with that thumb injury.

Can we bat on tomorrow and then skittle the Aussies and finally win a test match?

I watched over half an hour with England not scoring single run. Got so fed up I went off to bed.

Our openers have let us down yet again.
We are still 150 behind and the Aussies are now bowling at our tail end.
Maybe we might get a draw if it rains.

Not just the openers, Hameed, Crawley, Root, Malan and Buttler combined managed a total of 27 runs in this innings :x

Plenty of pace and bounce from Mark Wood and he gets Labuschagne out to one that climbs on him.

Decent tour from Wood

Pope doing well as WK.

If I was gonna keep any Players for our test team out of this shambles I would go with:
Root
Barstow
Stokes
Pope
Robinson
Wood

Anderson will probably retire
Broad maybe a few more years left in him
But we need to find replacements for these two and a spinner.

The rest c ya and take that Silvewood with you.

Sam Billings has been called up as cover for Bairstow & Buttler , because of covid restrictions he wasn't able to fly from Queensland down to Sydney so he has had to drive down by himself

That was a brilliant effort by Khawaja to score two centuries in this match, classy batsman

Him and Green took the match away from us.

It's a decent pitch and we need 388 to win.

30 for 0 at the close and that's our highest opening stand in this series

Still think we'll stay true to form and get skittled cheaply tomorrow.
