Tyler Adams

Post by Cjay »

With Phil Hay now putting name to an article basically forecasting KP's departure I thought its time this young man has a thread.

Various sources have said we are interested.

The whole Red Bull and American link makes it plausible

Tyler Adams respects Marsch and actually talked about him and us here
So whilst it is still just speculation he is seemingly the most logical KP replacement.

So who is he?

Tyler Adams is a 23 year old USA international midfielder who came through the Red Bull network starting at New York Red Bulls before moving on to RB Leipzig in 2019 aged just 20 years old

He has gone on to take to the field over 100 times for the Bundesliga giants including in Europa League and Champions League games.

He is also a full USA international and in total despite being only 23 has over 200 Career appearances to his name.

He is primarily a defensive midfielder.

Known for his speed and mobility which is vital in a press.

A tenacious figure he gets stuck in

Not lacking in the strength department he is only 5ft9 but doesn't allow that to stop him putting himself about.

Comfortable on the ball with a decent passing range he isn't all just effort and blood and thunder.

One downside is he is quite injury prone.

So in other words, very much like KP. He'll fit in perfectly. :P

We don't want any more injury prone players and at this rate we might as well change our name to Leeds United States of America!

Totally Agree its getting a bit silly, we need to get some proper bloody premier league standard players, in. why are we looking far and beyond for cheap. with roca due to sign we still need another 2 players one of which must be a STRIKER and of course if we loose either phillips or raphinha or both then we would also need an extra 2. its obvious weve got some money available to spend and crumbs do we need fresh new good exiting payers.

Couldn't see why we'd be interested in him until I got to the last line :)

Seriously though we will hopefully be in a better financial position, if KP and Raph go, to get a stronger squad so not be as over reliant on certain players. Really we have to be looking at the likes of AF, RC, PS as being 4th,5th and 6th choice in the dm position.

Except the Niners don’t play in San Francisco

Red Bull. American. Nothing to suggest any input from JM, at all. Looks a useful squad player tbf

Tyler Adams' marker will put his studs straight down his calf in the first five minutes and Adams will disappear. Every marker will do the same in every match and he will be absent every game. This guy is a wimp that won't last in English football.

The term injury prone is nor truly accurate when it concerns DM’s - the reality the more combatant I’ve they are the more likely they will get injured. No player is impervious to the injuries resulting from a tackle mistimed by just a fraction of a second. Look through the last 20 years. All the top DM’s have spent periods on the side lines.
Lot of comments about Phillips been injury prone is rubbish. My benchmark for injury prone is Darren Anderson at the top of the scale.

Until last season coming off a major championship and Bielsa’s training it is the first time KP has been out for a sustained period and he is one of the most aggressive, high energy levels DM’s currently playing.

Injury for this position goes with the territory. Adams included, hence why you need backup.

Some rumblings going on about Adams as a loan option. Not sure how this rumour has come about given our fraught relationship with Leipzig, but perhaps if the loan fee is paid up front and full wages perhaps they are to be persuaded. Not a bad shout as we get a bit of a try before you buy and see if he can stay injury free and fit into the pace of the PL. Certainly also from a marketing perspective it may raise our profile more in the States with Aaronson and Marsch at the club already. Not a bad thing if we can become the PL team many new fans here start to follow as we need to maximise income from peripheral channels like merchandising etc.

It's what the 49'ers are relying on imo.
They could start with putting a second floor on the shitty little shop we have corner of SE, club shop should be massive and flogging more gear.

Isn't my top choice tbh.

Has had a few injury problems of his own and I'd have preferred Camara amongst others as he is the higher rated player.

But Tyler Adams was always the most likely.

Significantly cheaper option and Marsch knows him better.
