Re: General Chat
Junior Dr’s wages are not that bad. The pay progression for doctors is very steep, particularly once they specialise. They probably do deserve a rise but any increase has a knock on effect up the progression ladder. 35% is pretty ludicrous. They know they will get no where near that, but start high and hope to meet somewhere acceptable. My guess is they will accept something like 8 - 10 with additional increases over a number of years.
Talking of remarkable coincidence. I recall going home on leave once as a young soldier in the early 80’s catching the Leeds train from KingsX. An elderly lady was sat opposite me as I awoken from a drunken stupor as my mates banged on the window laughing as the train pulled away from Leeds and as I recall next stop was Newcastle or some other very similar bleak location. Just to add some detail - My saliva was hanging off the window and still attached to my mouth. The elderly lady said you are a soldier aren’t you. To which I said yes, to which she replied you are just like my Grandson, his name is Carl and he is also a soldier, do you know him ? Now there is normally a cliche attached to this, but as it happens I did I was in training with him. I had to spend a few good hours on the platform at whatever hole I got off at with a murderous hangover but looking back it was worth it.

I've just stubbed my toes on the corner of the bed, and it's ripped off most of my big toenail.
I'm in bloody agony.

Ouch!!! So sorry to hear. Head to the doc for some pain meds and advice on how to expedite the healing process. I hope you feel better soon.

Horrible!
I stubbed one of my big toes a few years ago, unfortunately it has never recovered, I treat it with an expensive toenail solution, but it hasn't improved the problematic nail.
Re: General Chat
So one of your initial actions was to share it on the forum. Cheers
I have two serious squirm reaction injuries, nails ( fingers or toes ) and eyes.
I would blab like a drunken fool if I was ever tortured and they went for the nails or my eyes. I once got a bit of a paint flake in my eye when decorating. Having hoped it would come out naturally, which Ofc it didn’t. I eventually relented about going to hospital when my eye was turning red. Whereat - I was literally held down in A&E so they could remove it. ( It took about 2 seconds) Baby and soft C..t were muted a few times by staff.
How anyone wears contacts is beyond me.

I was feeling sorry for myself, mate.

Re: General Chat
My partner wears them. I go into full squirm just thinking about it.
I was supposed to have something done with my eyes in hospital about fifteen years ago. I bottled going to any of the appointments after the first one. I can still see.
Re: General Chat
I worked with a bloke who decided he was going to start using them. He managed to get them in …just about but couldn’t take them out and quickly regretted it. He came in a few days later looking like he had been on a three day bender. He was making my eyes water just looking at his. Two piss holes in the snow did not do them justice. Needless to say he went back to spectacles.
Re: General Chat
My Mrs wears them - and she has them in and out in the blink of an eye. Which is fine.
Re: General Chat
If anyone came near my nails with a pin they're getting told everything.
There's a cracking black and white film that the name of the French woman i think as it's title, a true story about how the Germans tortured her for info and she never cracked, ripped off her toenails anorl.

Been at work all day (went back to my postman job at Royal Mail after 17 months off ill). As briefly as possibly, what Leeds news do I need to hear since yesterday? I know about Radz trying to put Elland Road up for a Sampdoria loan. Any good news?

One of the broadsheets (maybe Times) reporting Allardyce will not be offered the manager's job. That's the best I can do, VictorVictor_Notts-17 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 2:24 pm Been at work all day (went back to my postman job at Royal Mail after 17 months off ill). Re: General Chat
Was listening to the BBC's post FA cup final chat on radio 5 and the discussion was whether managers of old could do the job that Pep has done, Ferguson being the main manager for comparison's sake. Can't remember who but it was commented that the greats would certainly be able to manage a team these days like Pep has Man City .... the three "greats" mentioned were Shankly, Revie and Clough ....
